By member1168465 On 24th April 22Like I said for the university slide; DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO! If you want to be a character artist, please go to a different university that has more up-to-date facilities! Feel like I've just wasted 3 years doing something I didn't want to do after realising the hellscape of this industry!

By HousePlantParty On 15th January 20I'm only in first year, so it's hard to judge, but so far we're being taught an adequate amount, the tutors are friendly and easy to reach if we have any concerns.

By LunarSolar26 On 21st April 15All in all I have had a great experience on my course. I have enjoyed almost all of the material we have studied and I like that we are able to pick elective modules to cater to our interests. There have been one or two not so good modules but this was down to the quality of teaching from associate lecturers and following module feedback improvements were made. The course leader Chris Hogg is really brilliant and will go out of his way to help you and offer advice and really listens to your feedback about the course.

Games Design, BA Hons
By member868029 On 10th April 22(couldn't find Games Art, so I've chosen Games Design). Generally been disappointed with this course - It's called Game Art but we rarely created art, it has been mostly 3D modelling and such - there have been about 3 modules that actually require drawing (2 yrs in). In my opinion, I think game art should be split between 3D and 2D, as there were many people who thought we'd be doing more 2D stuff. I also think the modules were oftentimes more complicated than they should be due to tutors not teaching properly or being lazy and us needing to rely on youtube videos and friends for help - this is why the value for money isn't there. It feels like we're paying to be given work, rather than being taught. On the positive side, there are no essays and it's all coursework which I enjoy. There is great potential for this course to be great, but I feel like some things need changing. I dont regret coming on this course, I've met some great people - but i can' help but wish for more to be honest

By member467820 On 5th April 22It's an interesting course, there could be more games design but the fundamentals of code have to be understood before significant games progress is made.

Public Relations and Media, BA Hons
By member761515 On 2nd August 21I thoroughly enjoyed my course. I made friends while gaining insight and knowledge into an industry I otherwise wouldn't have. If you're interested in communications or anything related to it, I strongly recommend studying Public Relations at Hallam.

Games Design, BA Hons
By member657070 On 28th April 21Most of it is being told to teach ourselves and watch YouTube tutorials. Tutors take weeks to answer emails. Teaching quality is not the best but not the worst.
