Sociology, BSc Hons FullTime

(Sociology and History) My course is cool, and I loved studying the two subjects. I think it could have been organized better in terms of its content, and it is a joint course, so it would have been great if we had more opportunities for modules. I often got some of the miserable and boring modules, so I definitely think more variety would have been better. I also wish we had a personal tutor linked to our specific course rather than two separate ones. Would just be easier when confirming things, and it's easier for everyone to communicate. read more

Sociology, BSc Hons FullTime

I don't think this course is worth £9000. First year consists of everyone catching up with what was learned at A-Level and practicing essays. As well as settling in. They don't throw you in the deep end and the work transition is good. Half of the lecturers are great, the other half are questionably bad and presenting. My personal tutor seems less enthusiastic than I am, but other people's tutors are a lot better. We study a lot on our course, and a very broad range. I look forward to second year. There's A LOT of reading on this course. THere are constant emails and notices of meetings and presentations and workshops on placements and internships and work. I believe Cardiff University stands out with job prospects. read more

Sociology, BSc Hons FullTime

Lets get this straight - I never chose Sociology so I could find a well paid job afterwards. I chose sociology because i simply enjoyed studying it - as a result I enjoyed studying it at University. Cardiff has a great Social Sciences department with some extremely knowledgable teaching staff. However, they simply art that accessible - my personal tutor didn't even know who I was when I asked for a reference despite meeting up with him throughout my 3 years at Cardiff University. There needs to be more of a personal touch to the Social Sciences department between the lecturers and the students. read more
