The university in general is incredible, there’s a lot of societies to join especially if you’re international. Plenty of cafes and even a Starbucks to keep you fuelled between classes, or even just to hang out with your friends! read more

Birmingham Newman University is such a welcoming place by the educators and staff as a whole. I undertook the Introductory to Counselling course in January 2026, which is a 13-week, part-time course, and I absolutely fell in love with Newman. So much so, I will be starting the Integrative Counselling Foundation Degree this September. From the lovely tutor and helpful senior lecturers, to the enthusiastic librarians, and patient admissions/student helpdesk teams, I have repeatedly received so much help, advice and information. I am someone who has a million and one questions at all times, and I'm also autistic, yet I have never felt discouraged or like I'm making a nuisance of myself. The staff have always been kind and have answered my questions with so much passion and patience. I have had a wonderful time at Newman and thoroughly believe I will continue to do so! read more

As a mature student, re-entering education was a daunting experience. Newman feels like a community, which made the whole experience feel more enjoyable rather than scary, whilst still offering a classic university experience. I would choose Newman over and over! read more

The campus is great, its a small university compared to most which really appealed to me. The parking isn't great but again compared to other uni's its brilliant - free parking! It's in a nice quite location - no having to drive into/through the city centre. The little starbucks in the atrium is great and the bistro is always busy. The campus itself is relatively easy to navigate with it being just one site and you can get from building to building without having to leave shelter when its raining. I couldn't be happier attending this uni, it's perfect for me! read more

My time at Newman was definitely impacted by covid but i cannot recommend the uni enough for their hard work in organising around this and being extremely helpful during my time here. The only downside was the lecturers taking ages to reply to emails, that might have only being my lecturers but sometimes i would be waiting 1+ weeks to get replys. read more
