My first year at BCU has been a positive and worthwhile experience. I have found the course interesting, and the modules cover useful topics that help me understand how things work in real-life situations. Working on practical projects has been one of the best parts because it allows me to build my skills beyond just studying theory. Most lecturers explain things well, although a few sessions could be more engaging and easier to follow. My personal tutor has been helpful when I have needed advice, but more regular communication would make the support even better. Considering the facilities, learning materials and other resources available, I feel the university offers reasonable value for the tuition fees. I am also hopeful about my career opportunities after graduation, especially because the course helps develop skills that employers look for. Although there are some areas where BCU could improve, I feel that my time here is helping me become more confident and better prepared for m read more

This course has been a tremendous waste of time. Many of the lecturers are not only unhelpful but also have a weak grasp of the subjects taught. The only redeeming quality would be the job opportunities provided as the university was helpful in securing a placement. The modules which where part of the course varied greatly in difficulty with some being laughably simple. The more difficult modules where also the ones with terrible lecturers. If you want to be taught by incompetent teachers reading from powerpoints like back in school, this is the university for you but otherwise, dont waste your time. read more

Overall I regret choosing this university. Since the campuses now share a common space (they are moving everything to Millennium Point area) there's no additional parking, no additional transport, and the canteens are busier (and more expensive) than ever before. Course content: generally poor value. Tutors do their best in the convoluted and restrictive framework to which they work in. Courses are shortened/deadlines extended/assessment criteria changed/etc at the drop of a hat. Lecturers are either (a) so sedentary they're complacent and just do the bare minimum, (b) blag their way through the lecture they were given just this morning to deliver, or (c) recognise the failings of everyone else so work twice as hard as a result, in the quest to give the students some actual value. Student engagement has plummeted since 2014, which is when I started. Staff turnover is quite high (see above!) so consistency is absent. Complaints about couse content get ignored. read more
