A brilliant course, has taught me all I need to know so far, I do encourage learning outside of the course as well as people seem to think it's a bad course because they expect to just sit back and learn read more

just now If I could give it 0 I probably would. This university has caused so much suffering to so many people. They mess up courses. Promises you things you can't actually take and then say it is too late to change. The marking (in performance based lectures) are biased. Combined lectures can be messed up. They threaten you not to complain if you have an issue (even not telling you there is a complaint system separate from the university). One student was locked in a room by the lecturer and told not to appeal his grade. Another student threatened not to complain until after graduation, by then the deadlines for complaints was closed. For me, they never even told me there was a complaint system that was separate from my course. I thought I would get bad grades if I complained. I didn't know until after about the students union complaint department. They do not advertise it. Mental Health service is terrible. You get no support. All the different departments for graduation, read more

The four stars for value for money was simply due to the extortionate tuition fees across the UK generally, this isn't a fault of the university or course so much. Everything about this course is excellent. The tutors are both vastly experienced so you learn constantly, but they become great business contacts and university 'parents' to you, with many tutors genuinely keeping an eye on everyone and knowing every student individually. My personal tutor is lovely and is very aware of the emotional elements of being at university and the stress that can come out of being an emotional artistic person. The course itself is wide-ranging in it's content preparing us for all of the strands of the industry: studio and workstation production, songwriting and contemporary composition, music for media, touring and performance, music business, academic research, branding etc. The employment rate is higher than the national average and the positions that former graduates have now is breathtaking. read more

Drama, BA Hons FullTime

Graduated in 2017. After first year, the lecturers who: proposed class trips to the theatre, shared their own industry connections and organised professional speakers to visit had to leave as cuts in funding meant that the department had to be severed. The chancellor has stated that Drama won’t be a course continuing into the near future if ‘cuts’ persist. The staff we had remaining were wonderful but as we were told late into the course (start of second year) about the cuts - we basically had a DIY course with highlights of making professional performances but there was no huge professional help in linking the modules together to have an all-round view of ‘Drama’. For example if you did happen to choose a performing module, it was at the grace of knowing fellow students/lecturers in tech or costumes that could help you out. I guess overall it taught us how to make something out of the bare minimum. But the trajectory of the course was disappointing especially for what you’re paying. read more
