Amazing campus with lots of places to go for studying or between lectures. Clubs and societies are good but some aren’t very welcoming or don’t do anything! read more

My experience at Aberystwyth University has been genuinely transformative, both academically and personally. What stands out most is the university’s commitment to creating an environment where students are not simply taught, but encouraged to think critically, question ideas, and develop as independent learners. The academic support and accessibility of staff have been exceptional. Lecturers bring expertise and enthusiasm into their teaching while also making time to engage with students as individuals. This creates a learning environment where curiosity is valued and where students feel supported in developing their own academic voice. Studying at Aberystwyth has also provided me with the opportunity to be part of a diverse and welcoming community. The university’s location by the sea creates a unique atmosphere — peaceful, inspiring, and perfectly suited for reflection, creativity, and focused study. read more

The campus is generally very nice. You have everything you could need. The only downside is that, if you do a masters, a lot of construction is being done while you're meant to be working on your dissertation. read more

I would not recommend coming to this university- go anywhere else but here. I have have to raise many complaints appeals and cases in the past four years in order to get even the basic things delivered on my PhD. I've had eleven different supervisors. The place is chaos and supervision is not very good and even when it is I found the support didn't stick around or follow through. Communication with students when you have problems are appalling- meaning things that should be solved quickly roll and escalate for years (that happened for me). I did not get good support after I returned from maternity leave. I have three complaint cases raised against the institution presently (including a major one that may go legal) to sort out problems begun at that time. I rarely have time to think about my actual PhD- I had to change subjects as my first dept. was so bad, and the second dept. are only erratically supportive too. I've been to five universities and this one has been the worst. Run!! read more

Great environment and all the staff are kind and helpful. There are lots of societies but a lot of them tend to only do pub crawls so if you don’t drink there’s not many socials to go to, but the non pub crawl socials are always amazing and fun. read more

honestly a solid choice, the uni is a good experience if you ignore that any issues with flatmates will not be resolved by accom even if they're in breach of contract or threatening violence (yikes), but all unis tend to be like that. pray you have good people to live with, and everything else can be smooth sailing read more

Studying at Aberystwyth University has been a really positive experience for me so far. The campus has a great atmosphere and the town itself is beautiful, especially being right by the sea. I’ve enjoyed how friendly and supportive the lecturers are. The smaller town and campus environment also make it easier to feel part of a community. Overall, Aberystwyth has been a great place to study and I’m glad I chose it. read more

Thoroughly enjoying my time at Aber! The staff are all generally very helpful and kind, the town itself is lovely though the buildings are starting to feel dated (I'm aware the Art School has a problem with the age of the building and it being listed so it's failing in many ways). The town is also very nice, lots of nice cafes, and everything you need is in walking distance from student accomodation. One of our major frustrations is what feels like the constant mismanagement of funds. This issue isn't unique to Aber, but nontheless quite prevelant. However, the university and Union are, in my opinion, good at responding to issues raised by students. It sometimes feels like the Union is difficult when it comes to issues raised from societies. Societies have a high turnover because they begin then fizzle out due to a lack of support and by-elections have a weirdly long timeline, meaning roles go unfilled. read more

Worst university of my life- staff are actually sadistic and cruel and worked to actively prevent me from thriving and succeeding at this university. I have had nine tutors during my PhD so far and they have all alternated between bullying and neglect during my time there- completely extraordinary. Prejudicial treatment started against me and escalated over time, following my return from maternity leave. The first two years were fine. The rest have been living hell. Don't go here if you value your sanity or life. Don't entrust your son or daughter to these ethically frightening and corrupt people. After four other excellent experiences of universities elsewhere in England and Scotland, giving my fees and a huge chunk of my life to Aberystwyth University is the greatest regret of my lifetime. It's one of these pockets of toxic academic culture you read about- all the most poisonous staff back each other up, it's terrifying. A VERY bad university if you are female- don't touch. read more

Lecture halls and classes are lovely. Definitely try make an effort because, like they repeatedly tell you, you get out what you put in. The uni and it's students offer so many societies, enough for you to chose a different one every week! I haven't had many lectures yet, but what I've had so fun has been great. I do psychology and the people in it have been very talkative, which is lovely. read more
