If you're looking for a course that will develop and challenge you academically then I cannot recommend this course more highly. I attended some fascinating lectures that really sparked intellectual though and debate. However, the reality of the matter is that many social work students embark on such a course primarily to learn the skills required for professional social work practice. This is unfortunately where this course is lacking; the placement team are diabolical and their organisational skills are poor to say the least. They would send a final year social work student out on placement at a pet shop if they felt they could get away with it (I'm not joking here guys). They approve organisations for placement students that simply are unable to provide opportunities which enable them to become confident, work-ready practitioners. Student-focused is certainly not a term I would use to describe placements team. Steer clear. read more
