A good university but lacking in a lot of areas.
A very underrated university with many special features
In general it’s good enough, but tgere are some frustrating aspects
Dedicated lecturers that care about their students, campus that is being constantly improved and a good range of courses. Not being a Russel group uni takes the pressure off the study and I've found it to be overall an enriching and beneficial experience with lots of extra curricular activities popping up in my department.
Good location, easily accessible
A really good one .....feasible for everything....
Interesting lectures and good support system with the personal tutors
Over the three years I have been hear, I am glad to say that the teachers listen to the students about any worries we have. It is an anomaly for me when it comes to teachers from previous education.
Very good and well equipped university for learning
I’m really enjoying Uni life on campus, everyone is friendly and helpful and I enjoy the course. There is a gym on campus and it’s amazing. I’ve joined a society and they have events on too which I’ll be attending in the future. So far so good.
Nice people, helpful support and great wifi.
It's overall a great experience to be honest.
Great location, great accommodation
Accommodation is close to the city centre and the university. Staff is very friendly and always happy to help
Decent university with plenty of opportunities
I would rate my overall experience 6/10
Studying at Uclan is good formme
All is great, except the WiFi needs some improvements !
So good to choose this accommodation, it’s so close to the university
The campus is really nice & easy to navigate and the staff are super accommodating and supportive
Good university, very friendly staff, placement opportunities but not much about graduate jobs/internships,
Felt like a home... Feeling bad to leave this
Campus facilities (such as gyms & libraries) were great and kept to a high standard of cleanliness. Regular updates about careers events/opportunities were helpful. However the on-campus Wi-Fi often didn't work properly, or only worked for some websites/apps.
University is good, everything is all close together and very easy to find, and it also close to the town centee
The university is good, however it could be more accommodating to disabilities with it's courses.
UCLan is a good university and the free sports membership they provide is a great bonus.
Glad to study and work here as a Student Ambassador
Not the best for support in all areas but good enough
Best university experience so far .good lectures
I applied here through clearing, as before I wasn’t sure whether or not I thought university was right for me. But I’m so glad I chose to apply. I’ve had an amazing time at Uclan. All of the staff are welcoming and if there are any issues they are solved efficiently. My experience has been more than I could have ever hoped for and I can’t wait to progress onto year two.
Lovely new buildings within the university however the student union is not promoted or used enough, many new students do not use it or even know where it is
Everyone’s really friendly and there’s a good variety of societies to join and there’s also plenty of support available
Had a great time at UCLAN. Facilities were great for a music student and there's always weekly events on to keep entertained.
Recently graduated from Uclan and over my entire three years I felt more negatively towards the university than positively. Classrooms lacked working equipment but funds often spent on making the campus look nicer. Timetabling team are slow, careless and every student for every year had timetable issues, classes not showing up, clashes, ect. Graduates in languages not efficient enough in the languages they learned to actually achieve a graduate position in a workplace. In-class and extra curricular activities minimum. Student welfare extremely poor, The university valued mitigating circumstance applicable students over struggling but capable students. Terrible predatory business ethic. Money is more important than students every time, Disciplinary team biased and narcissistic, if you don't comply to their biases then your free speech human right is redundant. Uclan tries very hard to avoid complaints and avoid giving students compensation.
Great uni with lots of courses
Excellent support from staff when needed, made great friends and loved every second of my university experience. Very upset that it is coming to an end.
I've loved my time here! The uni is quite big and there are so many places to study. There's a newly built Student Centre that's super bright and modern, perfect for studying if you don't want to be silent in a library setting. The library has a large selection of books. The nightlife is pretty dire to be honest, there's only about 2 clubs in the whole of Preston (Switch and Warehouse) But the uni is great tbh, I've really enjoyed my time here.
Decent university that allows you to be independent, however the teaching quality leaves something to be desired at times.
I recently attended the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston and I am thoroughly impressed with my experience. The campus is modern and well-maintained, with a variety of facilities for students to use, including libraries, computer labs, and sports centres. The academic staff were knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, and always willing to provide support and guidance. The university offers a wide range of courses, providing students with a diverse range of study options. The city of Preston is also a great place to study, with a lively student community and a variety of activities and events to participate in. Overall, I would highly recommend UCLan to anyone looking for a high-quality education in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Nice area the university are very helpful and the course is very interesting
Lovely uni, take care of their students with any issues, good prices around campus and lots of things to do
better than other universities
I regret choosing to study at UCLAN. My course was very unorganised and I didn't feel prepared enough for the assignments given.
Great uni very wholesome and great support by staff and students
i absolutely love it here, couldn't recommend enough
Amazing Atmosphere. The staff are always ready to help you!
Great place friendly environment and new facilities
There are lots of things to do on campus other than study. Due to societies and the students Union it is quite easy to meet new people. The level of teaching I would say is above average for my course
UCLan has been very accommodating to me, especially as an international student. If I have a problem, everyone is prepared to either help me directly or lead me to a person who could help.
Some aspects are nice and some are not
The university has been good, but due to shutting uni buildings over the weekend and earlier during weekdays, work cannot be completed has made computing my degree incredibility difficult due to reduced access to specialist rooms. Disappointing move from the uni.
It’s a great campus, faculty are supportive, lots of great places on campus to hang out and study and everyone is super helpful
Great uni! Only annoying thing is media factory is no longer open at weekends
Have really enjoyed studying and entertainment throughout my time here.
New facilities are opening to improve and update current buildings
As much as I love preston and the amazing student accomodation. The teaching is not up to standard. Wouldn't recommend for nursing course here. Not much structure put in place and lessons are nit in much detail.
All the staff are so lovely and welcoming - it was very easy settling in during my first week.
I am in my final year and studying here has been pretty good. During Covid things weren't the best but considering the times things were done as best as could be and now that everything is steadily going back to normal, being on campus is great.
Everyone is very friendly and there is loads of social events to join
good uni, good courses. i like it here.
Not got any complaints so far. It's not a huge campus but I like that. Library is good for study. New student centre is great for advise and services as well as a great spot to meet up for group projects. Student union building is really great, Starbucks on campus is nice. Course is good however very unorganised and unscheduled. Frustrating for someone who needs structure to focus on studies. Good facilities for my course and been able to use them every time I need. Staff are friendly and easy to talk to.
Wifi can be a bit of a hassle at official accommodations, however great university choice!
good but not the best at all. student ambassadors are a joke don't work for them they talk about you behind your back negatively
UCLan is a nice uni. I have good opportunities here, and I feel very supported by the teachers
Good place to study, met some amazing people.
Supportive staff who are always willing to help. Incredible SU team who represent students well and respond to our grievances. Have a bus to take students home from the library if studying done until late
Uclan has been a good university to me so far, theres plenty of clubs and activitys to do in your spare time and the staff normally goes the extra mile to help you out if you have issues.
It is a decent university, there is general support and resources you need to be successful.
Very good university with decent facilities
Can’t argue with uclan truly love the place
This university is one of a kind very professional and warm welcoming, everything about it is amazing the society’s the atmosphere and even the educational aspect of the community, I rate this so much that friends I knew at college have changed universities to come here from my recommendation.
Satisfied with the university and in particular the dental school
I enrolled at UCLan after two years at a different University because I did not feel like I was receiving a high standard of education. Wish I'd known about UCLan sooner.
Overall good but there should be more non-class activities and services
Amazing! incredible staff and services. Buildings are modern and accessible and plenty of social areas. The library is brilliant too!
The university as a whole is okay. Your experience will depend on the course you are taking.
The university is great and I don't have a lot to complain about it. I adore my tutors and since I am studying Games Design, I wish there were better computers and better mouse pads for us, because the ones we were provided with are too small.
Great buildings to study and generally good and accommodating support for students.
Good, well rounded experience. I’m happy here.
Good student support and good sport centre
Great student life with lots of staff around campus to help at any time
UCLAN: Great uni to study medicine. Faculty members are so nice!
Good uni, lecturers are always helpful and have good experience
The university as a whole is brilliant. There could be improvements in places to study as there is a few places but not many to plug your own laptop in. The buildings are all easy to locate and the lecturers are always friendly and helpful. The mental health services are easy to use and readily available
Great social spaces and helpful staff especially the school of medicine as they’re always ready to help
The most enjoyable experience I have had in education despite returning as a mature student and studying a field I had not previously explored.
Very good college, modern facilities and nice teaching environment
Great university, beautiful campus and friendly people all around.
Best university with best facilities and best opportunities.
Good facilities and good teaching just wish it was more accessible for students to use facilities that aren’t necessarily specific to their course I.e. video recording equipment etc
Uclan is very accessable for all students. There is a large section for student wellfare, and a new building for student services. Most of the campus is close together and on some days and times do have a shuttle to the Uclan Sports Arena. The downside to this is there is no direct bus and can be a hard to get to on foot which google maps might send you down a private footpath. I can't say I have used the career cervces yet so it would be unfair to mark them down. Internet is good overall through out campus but I have had issues the odd time.
Uclan is fabulous. They are really supportive for students
Good university and friendly staff. Great social life and amazing medical program
Ok so far although a lot of things could be made better !
Absolutely brilliant university. Super clean and modern with amazing tutors and a wide range of societies to chose from. Could not be happier with my experience so far!
my professors are lovely and the buildings are nice, campus is small so everything is close by however the wifi is unreliable and the uni-owned accommodations are awful, highly recommend going private
University has very good open areas for studying and socialising
The university has new modern buildings and offers quality courses that other universities don’t tend to offer
The campus is great and not too big so it is easy to get around. Those in the SU are always there to help.
Having done my masters here I can say it's the best uni I've been to. Over and above during covid 👍
