The University of Portsmouth has provided me with all the resources necessary to thrive and excel in my area of expertise. From abundant software, to the library that's open 24/7, the student experience has been great! In addition, the services provided are quite relevant to my course, and have helped me bridge the gap between my Bachelors and current Masters course easier. I really enjoyed the career services and mental health services as they ensured bright future job prospects while having a clear headspace. Jona S.

The staff and facilities are very good. The library is amazing with access to almost all online articles and journals and books needed. The area and accommodation is amazing
Alright uni, wants to bigboy uni but will never quite get there.
Not many societies that I was interesting in, but a fair amount of events going on throughout term and a lovely campus with great facilities
Architecture student.. great facilities, great tutors & lectures and lovely building.
I am in my First year and the facilities are amazing and WIFI is very fast all over campus throughout all builings
Fantastic University, highest quality of teaching standard in the UK, happiest students in the UK and the most skilled graduates in a relaxed but educational learning system.
Portsmouth is a home away from home. Teachers are friendly and they make sure you understand what they teach.
Uni is so average, the town is atrocious and students are getting attacked, followed etc nearly every day and the uni fails to address it? A joke
One of the best choice of my life it offer everything and it's very organized
The best university you could possibly go to! Find your home away from home at this top class education facility.
Great place with caring teachers and great facilities to study!
A great feeling uni. Great staff, teaching & city - let down with some facilities, the lack of a student bar and expensive halls.
Generally has good facilities but most buildings and lecture theatres are not very wheelchair friendly :(
Good uni, good facilities and places to work
The university is great overall. The course is tailored for the my future with feedback from industry panels. So many societies and clubs, obviously some are better than others. Free wifi across campus thats not slow. Career event atleast once a month. Student union does a lot and its quite major if you get involved with it.
Been here a year. Most welcoming place ever.
This university is very focused on how many students they want to take and not how to improve the quality of teaching for those students. I really enjoyed my time there but I think that they need to look at what their main focus is and should be
Great uni with great staff and facilities
Wellbeing is s*** but everything else I don’t think I’d change
Studied at Portsmouth for 5 years total, undergrad and masters, overall good experience, great uni that is still improving.
Aweful union/university only caring about league tables and not the student experience.
I had a great time learning at this university, staff are great and always assist when needed. Every building is within 15 minutes walking which makes it a great campus.
Great nights out and the uni staff really care about the students
Brilliant uni! Great atmosphere and excellent courses
Perfect uni and perfect campus in the heart of the city
Portsmouth is a great student ctiy. The staff have always been very helpful and kind. It sucks the Union closed. The waterhole bar, so there is no uni bar but there is a lot of pubs and bars around.
Amazing uni with amazing facilities, teachers and nightlife
Incredibly supportive after the death of my father, both pastorally and academically.
The university itself is pretty good, I cant really fault it apart from the lack of things to do during the evenings other than clubbing - but most people like that I think I am just boring as I would prefer more pubs near by xD
Brilliant service and accomodation. Good nightlife and support from the uni!
The staff are friendly and committed to helping students. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes you feel like home.
What I really like about Portsmouth University is the fact though it’s a huge campus, you feel like you’re at home. Everybody is friendly, it’s easy to get from one point to another with the uni bus. Clubs are overall safe which makes you love the city even more.
Loved it, graduated last year, Going back for a reunion in two weeks! Just wish union was better
Had a fantastic time at Portsmouth! Would definitely recommend it to anyone considering going to uni in future!
it’s not ranked as high as you think, complete money grabbers and destroy your dreams of what you truly want to do and judgemental lecturers, they never used to run like this AVOID this place!!
Love it mate, fun times. Just wished the waterhole was still open
Wonderful university, thank you for the best 4 years!
City center can be a bit off but the uni is good and the library is well stocked
The university of Portsmouth is a fantastic University for studying within the creative industries. It has excellent facilities, experienced, industry minded staff members and a continually updating curriculum. The Creative careers and employability services are fantastic for finding part time work, graduate positions and work placements. A very active student union with a broad array of societies help in making connections with like minded students.
It is a good university where it provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skill. Those can access to the real industry.
Great student city and support services
Amazing university with many facilities to support you and help you achieve your best
I had a fantastic time at Portmsouth
It’s an amazing university to explore yourself and get the best out of yourself
Excellent Experience, absolutely loved Portsmouth!
Everyone is lovely lectures are really informative and the equipment provided is out of this world, and have learnt a lot about not only my subject but also how to be an adult
Great uni and completely under rated. Would gladly do my masters here.
Support for Aspergers has been amazing, the campus is spread out so I find that it’s less busy when i get inside the building I need to be in.
Loving Portsmouth. Living in Southsea, being on a city campus next to the water is something you don't find often. Wifi can be dodgy at times though apart from that everything has been perfect so far.
The facilities are really nice and get updated regularly. Accommodation is okay but is a bit expensive.
Good facilities, helpful staff and good study contents.
Everything is in the city centre and close - the campus is laid out very open so you feel you are always at Uni, even when you are walking about in the city. Safe and secure
University of Portsmouth had everything i needed
It’s alright. Lit nights out nice people
The campus is close together, leading everywhere to be within walking distance — even university halls, which is a great help. The clubs and societies I have attempted to join aren’t great — I was ignored as a new member as I was quiet, which led to me not returning. The union is fantastic, and their bar and support services are brilliant. I haven’t focused on the Careers Service too much, but the connections I made with the Well-being Centre were not strong and ultimately disappointing. The WiFi is just fine.
You're in for a wild ride going to University of Portsmouth. You will love it. And you will learn, too!
Not an experience I wish I went through to be completely honest. Left without a qualification in the end, after ALL that. Got boring in the end with many having an obsession regarding lone mothers. And a constant focus and attack on lone mothers. Very strange as we were not taking a line patent course
A range of study areas available for all students! Library has a wide variety of accessible academic resources that help in academic studies
The facilities are ok. Caters basically to needs.
Best decision of my life coming here. It has really shaped me as a person and I love every minute. Not looking forward to leaving.
Great facilities and help with things such as careers, studying abroad, help with your course etc.
Gave basic 3 star as not used much there
I like my university - it has many facilities, which are built just for anything you need.there are also many clubs and societies, some of which have a tax to be paid in order to enter a specific society. The Wifi also stops sometimes, but for a short time.
Amazing university and not stuck on a campus somewhere out the way, it's spread across Portsmouth - the densest city in the UK and the UK's only Island city.
Portsmouth has catered for everything students need. The student services are amazing they are very prompt and helpful.
Good uni everything close together and provides good opportunities for people
The facilities are fine, the wifi is good but that's pretty much all that is in Portsmouth! No one cares about the students - they are walking money for the university. Everything is very chaotic, there is no communication between departments. The BA courses are kind of alright, although you find tutors who have been out of the industry for 30 years and who teach you about it or who don't have an idea how to work with a certain equipment and you end up studying everything from youtube tutorials and books you buy, because in the library it is all taken or does not exist. The library is extremely small and always packed, same for any other building. It is a competition to find a space to sit and a plug with electricity is another level of hardness. The courses are with the same structures for years, no new things added ever. My advice is to NOT GO to study a Master's degree there in any case! Worst experience ever!!!
AMAZING!! I've really enjoyed my time here. Everything is so close and it's lovely to go to the beach on a nice day.
Portsmouth is a very small city. The halls I stayed in were run down and cramped. The uni is also spaced out over the city so we were constantly moving from building to building for each class. The nightlife was good however there is very limited places to go to. Overall I wouldn’t recommend Portsmouth as anyone’s first choice as there is so many better equipped places to study.
Was impressed with the open day so decided to commit to Portsmouth , while most people at uni seemed to have a great time- I didn’t. I’d say it was the worse year of my life Don't get me wrong; I did have some good times and meet some good people too, but overall it wasn’t a good experience and nowhere near as good as it makes itself out to be
great business school with a lot of help provided by the business department, the student union is great too as they are always insisting to help students with any confusions.
Would I say Portsmouth is the best university? It's great, for the most part. The lessons and tutors are great and very helpful. The university itself? Not so much. If you have a problem, they don't help you at all really. Me and a friend had a problem with our timetables which they ignored all year. So not the best at getting help for things like that.
University is awesome and have no regrets coming here
Big city campus but easy to find everything, easy to walk around. Portsmouth is big on societies and the union. Great student city
su bar doesnt do many events, but has lots of competition, all the uni buildings are really good with a high standard of technology
Good uni and services on offer, really good sport and help with finding a job
The University does not have enough accommodation for the amount of students they have, I and many others didn't get into halls for our first year and it really separates you from the University community. The clubs and bars in Portsmouth are below average speaking as someone who comes from Brighton and the Library is so packed that you're unable to study there and the University doesn't supply much study space for when exam season comes around. Would not recommend
There is no better place to spend your university years. Sitting down on Southsea Common or the beach with a barbecue is severely missed. I left Pompey Uni over 3 years ago, but driving past that Spinnaker on the M325 still feels like I'm going home again.
Had an amazing 3 years at Portsmouth university. The student halls were very basic but mostly in a great location, next to the shops and nightlife and had friendly community to it was easy to make new friends with flat mates and neighbours. In the Summer it was great to be able to live near the sea, everyone heads down to the beach to have bbqs or play football. Lecturers all very helpful, course fairly interesting.
So much support from lecturers and other departments (purple door/placement office). Accommodation is the only problem, halls are very expensive especially for students (the loan doesn't cover the cost) and lots of the private accommodation is practically inhabitable. I would suggest looking sooner rather than later if you want a decent house for an okay price.
On paper the University of Portsmouth looks and sounds great. However, you do feel very lost when you start off there. Along with communication being a BIG issue. I wouldn't recommend this uni as most people I know there either are unhappy or have dropped out or considering.
All in all a great university, very vibrant and diverse with lots of opportunities, the only negative it that the library is not big enough for this very popular university so it's a pain in the arse to find any where to sit!
Great university, amazing location
The university is great, although the campus is in need of some development.
I loved my time at university! It changed me as a person, prepared me for the future and I've never looked back!
Only ever received help or assistance from any staff
Only a 1st Year brilliant uni. If you do work on the cloud expect it to cut out midnight for a couple of minutes. Lift in James Watson intermittently works now which is a bummer. But as a whole love everything else.
University facilities are of a good standard although I would like to see a wider menu at the Students union.
Love my course and the buildings, the societies only bother with you for the first week then lose interest same as the union, really lovely people though, everyone is friendly and the lectures etc are all so well paced. Love it here.
A great university, widely regarded as one of the most fun places you can be educated. Not only is it fun but it's a great city to live in for three year, with such a dense population there is a real sense of community amongst the locals, student and everyone together.
Could use more pool tables and live music.
The legendary union is a distant memory. There is no career opportunities although Purple door claim to help. The societies were intolerable.
I live my uni, especially the city. My course is great and the staff are very helpful There could be many improvements but I understand it is a new uni and space limited
Portsmouth uni is brilliant! Best life decision i made
Great. The atmosphere is amazing and there is so much to do. Amazing range of societies and clubs
Everything is close together, loads of shops and there are always people to help. Lots of things to do and the uni bus is free!!!
So far I have enjoyed being a student here. There's a close knit community at the uni, and I've made some amazing friends so far.
The union is great. Spend all your time there. Never leave
Join a society. It doesn't matter which one. But lacrosse is the best one.
Great university with a great social life
