Musical Theatre, BA Hons

By On 18th March 20

It could be so much better. The tutors themselves are fantastic. But the course is just not. Very poorly organised and so empty. Not very in-depth. Really slow to start and just drags. I'm doing the BA (Hons) Music and Sound Production course, but it doesnt even seem to be registered on here.

Absolutely love the course, its everything it said it was and more! All the lecturers are amazing and offer a professional aspect to their lectures, and the job prospects are brilliant as the University has lots of links with Theatres in the surrounding area

Drama, BA Hons

The three stars for the teaching quality is for Janet Lee and Helen Grime. I really felt they took time to be patient with me guide me and really made my course what it was. Every other lecturer felt my pain of annoying students who didn't care, and this made me not care. I can't believe the university would let in any old person if it meant they got some money for it.

Choreography & Dance and Drama, BA Hons

By On 27th April 19

Teaching was terrible I felt completely unwanted and not cared about, lectures didn’t even care to learn my name even after three years. If you weren’t the top performing student, you were swept under the rug and not even noticed. I had a peer who asked about a masters she was interested in to our tutor and she replied with ‘ you’re not good enough to do a masters’

Musical Theatre, BA Hons

By On 29th April 19

Not what I expected, not what I was told the course was going to be. Constant uncertainty and pressure on students to help form a new course which is underdeveloped. (For my years experience) the uncertainty is in terms of what our modules will be because the university don’t want to give us funding for the course etc

I’ve had the best time on my course, and I’ve achieved things I’m really proud of. It’s an arts course, so job prospects are always going to be tricky, but if it’s something you want to do it’s definitely worth it!

Drama, BA Hons

By On 27th May 19

Whilst more theoretical than I anticipated the course offered plenty of learning curves and information, tutors were helpful and content was always made clear if not in the lecture. Only thing I would say would to be to offer more technical subjects such as theatre production modules such as lighting/sound rather than having to be joint honours.

Comedy: Performance and Production, BA Hons

Sometimes it feels like the comedy students are lumped in with the rest of the performing arts students, and be part of modules that aren't really relavent, but most of the time the course is really intresting and fun

Comedy: Performance and Production, BA Hons

By On 1st March 20

Teaching quality varies from lecturer to lecturer. If you get Bernard, expect many name drops and feedback such as 'I can't see the comedy, you've got to follow the comedy' (Nice guy though). Phillip Stanier is the best one in my opinion (John Lee is up there as well), he balances course content with lessons about the life of being an artist and how it needn't be doom and gloom. I don't dislike anyone personally, they all have their strengths. It's just some work better for me is all. Job prospects aren't given, you still have to work to be in the world you love!
