By member567748 On 2nd April 22Having been on the PGCE course at Winchester I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for training. As a recent student here’ are my thought, opinions and experiences which I hope you find honest and helpful: - Teaching on the course is generally poor in several subjects, including maths, science and English (there are rare exceptions for music, art and PE): it is often delivered in ways we are told not to teach as teachers; it was frequently considered to be a waster of time by students, being boring and simplistic. - I found the course leadership to be atrocious with little concept of customer service and meeting student needs. Responses to questions about the course were met with defensiveness and fobbing students off rather than addressing and tackling some of the many issues. There are also important unaddressed issues around diversity and inclusion. - An extremely condescending attitude appeared prevalent towards students and little support was in place: a friend suffering

By JPercey97 On 1st January 16The teacher tutors are genuinely lovely. I've only been slightly less than satisfied with one or two, the rest are so very good at communicating ideas and making you feel at ease. The content of the course is very informative and helpful, and there are only some lectures that I felt were not necessary! My personal tutor is also very good and we get on very well, meeting regualarly.

By member714774 On 17th August 15Excellent placement opportunities and majority of lecturers are excellent and very enthusiastic! I feel some content may be unnecessary and some other topics should take more priority. But I thoroughly enjoy the course and is definitely helping me on my way to becoming a teacher and improving my knowledge of the job.

By member1039448 On 17th June 19Tutors were obviously confused when teaching content some lecturers would skip over important details for assignments others would give false information about hand in dates and requirements for essays and this just made the whole experience a lot more stressful!

By member1237519 On 30th April 19PT - I barely saw my tutor over the three years, my tutor changed in my third year, this meant that my new tutor was to write my personal reference, despite not truly knowing who I am. Most of the teaching is impeccable, I do think that some of the content let down the teaching though - this is because many of the seminar sessions were read off the PowerPoint, meaning I could have just stayed home and read it myself. Job prospects are great though! Because of the practical training we receive, trainee teachers are in a good position.
