Comparative Literature and English, American & Post-Colonial Literatures, BA Hons
Lecturers generally good. For 9K a year, guidance for essays and exams is very minimal, when you ask for more guidance you often do not get a response or if you do it is not very helpful. Seminar leaders do not seem to have any important information about essays and exams so cannot give good guidance, when they do give guidance it often contradicts what other teachers have said so there is a lot of confusion. I understand that university requires a lot of independent work, but for 9K a year the quality of education (particularly in seminars) and amount of hours of teaching is very low. Students are given opportunities to give feedback during and at the end of terms, I have brought up these issues during these feedback opportunities, however little (if anything) has been done. These are issues that occur more in the English, American and Postcolonial Literatures part of the course.
English & American Literature and Sociology, BA Hons
All round a good university
