English & American Literature and History, BA Hons
By member1366758 On 28th February 22I'm an exchange student so I'm not in a course, just in two modules (Reading Victorian Literature and Literature and Life ca 1400-1700). But teaching is good and I enjoy my modules here.
English & American Literature and Creative Writing, BA Hons
By member519122 On 18th November 15(I don't do Creative Writing - I couldn't find the single honours for English Lit). Course content (for first year) is mostly really, really good. Not every module is great... but 20th Century and Romanticism are very interesting.

By ElizabethJane On 25th April 15Canterbury itself is a beautiful city that continues to inspire literature with its history. This degree has not only given me knowledge, but a new perspective and approach to not only literature but history, politics and psychology to name a few. The course is taught by some incredibly accomplished authors and critics who explore a wide range of topics from Romanticism to contemporary memoirs. There is also the opportunity to write your own book and publish it in the final year of your degree. This course is tailored to the independent student, who likes to read and work to their own deadlines. Six hours a week is the average amount of contact time in the last two years of the degree, and the only criticism I have is that there was not always much support. However good seminar leaders and lecturers were usually available via email. Overall, it is a fantastic course and I would encourage anyone to study at the University of Kent.

Drama and English & American Literature, BA Hons
By member1220567 On 26th December 15The drama staff are so passionate about what they do which makes it easy to get excited about what you're studying. The English side of the course can be a little dull compared to the drama as there's a lot of reading to do which often isn't discussed in much depth in lectures and seminars.

English & American Literature and Creative Writing, BA Hons
By AnOn96 On 27th February 19I'm sad to say that I really regret coming to the University of Kent. In my experience, they have very little consideration for their students (apart from student support, they've been great) They changed the dissertation options for my course without telling us until it was one month before the application date. I'd already planned the other dissertation option. Being on my year abroad, I have a too heavy workload to plan a classic dissertation, meaning I won't be doing one now. They canceled my friends entire course after her second year, making her change to drama. The classes are politically bias (in my favour, but it gets in the way) even when it isn't relevant. The uni has plummeted 19 places in the league tables since I started. And I am almost exclusively taught my grad students. It simply isn't worth the £9250. I'm truly considering making a formal complaint, but can't keep quiet about my experience either.

English & American Literature, BA Hons
By anastasiazamo On 18th May 19my seminar leaders in general have been kind and understanding about my mental health circumstances, but the seminars are slow and boring and NO ONE speaks not even the leader its just an awkward and uncomfortable 2 hours. course is dreadful, over complicated lectures for what the subject matter is, and little help with prep for exams and the modules are new so not even the lecturers know what theyre doing. i feel almost embarassed to say i do english bc its almost like saying ‘i dont want a job’
