When I first came onto the course (From college) I found lots of the work quite easy and was constantly taught things that I already knew, whilst everyone that had done A-Level Media or nothing at all struggled which made other student think I was obnoxious, simply because I was capable of setting a camera and tripod up correctly and knew what things were called and had a sense of professionalism.

Poor value for money is simply down to the government. Learnt a lot on this course and was pleasantly surprised with how much I knew when I first worked on a film set soon after finishing. However, the amount I learned in a year at university is probably equal to the amount I would've learnt whilst being on set for about four days. Paying several thousand £ to learn or being paid a couple of hundred £ to learn, what would you choose? And I didn't get the work through uni, I got it through an already existing contact. It's not what you know (although it helps), but who you know that really makes the difference. And although the course was very helpful with the practical side of things, I didn't learn a single thing about sales and distribution which deems all the creative and technical knowledge useless.
