Chesil house is really good in terms of location because it's close to the town center as well as the university bus stop. The flats are also a good size with good sized, clean rooms. Another good thing is that the halls aren't really big which means that it isn't too noisy when you're trying to work, however even though there is a really nice social space it never has much of an atmosphere going on compared to the other halls in terms of social experience. There isn't regular cleaning that i've ever seen happen but that isn't a major issue because we can do it ourselves. The main issue is hall management, although we can regularly contact managers through the Facebook group and there is always someone at reception it always takes a long time for anything to get fixed. The biggest issue of the year has been the Wifi which is slow, always cuts out and you have a limited number of devices. Flat maintenance also takes a while to be noted or fixed correctly.

As soon as you walk into Chesil you are greeted by a security guard scowling at you. You then walk through two double doors, where you can them smell all the food waste rotting as the bins are just next door, this smell never leaves that area. Your room will be very basic and worn out. The beds are a basic mattress on a metal frame. When you sit up it will slide off the metal frame, the bed is overall very uncomfortable. You will be disturbed a lot by police sirens as the police station is just next door. The accommodation has a no noise policy. This means you will not be allowed to watch tv, play the guitar or listen to music at any reasonable level. God forbid you want to host a pre-drinks before you and your mates head out. You will be shut down and kicked out.

Rooms were dirty upon arrival, including the en-suites. Internet is appalling, drop-outs very frequent. Rooms are cold, they charge full price rent but won't turn the heating on for months. Washing facilities are poor for the price, paid £1.50 to dry and clothes were still soaking wet. Fire alarms go off constantly day and night. Kitchen area was broken when we arrived, fridge barely works and freezer defrosts itself. Not enough kitchen space for 6 people means having to store in room. Cannot collect post until after 3 which is a pain if it is urgent or sent on special delivery.

Room was dirty upon arrival, stained walls and en-suite was gross. Heating not switched on until October mean freezing cold rooms. No organised talks between flat mates to discuss stuff such as stealing food.

Living in Chesil House has been a great experience. The rooms are very nice and modern and you have your own en suite bathroom. The kitchens are very big so there's lot of cupboard space and room to prepare food. Reception staff are friendly and are on hand 24/7 to take care of any problems. The halls are within walking distance to the town centre and all the shops and restaurants you need, and the uni buses stop right outside and are very frequent, getting you there quickly. The common room is very nice though it's nearly always quiet, but a good space to hang out with friends if you want. Chesil itself has a quiet and relaxed atmosphere which is ideal if you're not really into partying, but it does get noisy outside at night. The only real downside is the rooms are extremely hot (in all weathers) and the restrictor on the window stops you opening it too much, so buy a fan. You'll need it.

Location is perfect, close to town, above CO-OP and a bus stop right outside that goes straight to uni. Stayed in Chesil in my first year, found it very clean and modern with all good facilities. Very quiet which is nice but not great for social experience! Common room is small with one pool table, a tv and sofas, largely unused.

Great size rooms with bathrooms (shower, toilet, sink). The room has everything you need with a good size desk and mirror. Bed is like a camp bed but good mattress.Lots of stains in our house from previous tenants and no steam cleaner on site (you would have to pay for it yourself) which is a bit annoying. Communal kitchen is large but fridge space is a bit limited and it contains everything you need (microwave, fridge but no mop). Communal areas are abit lacking compared to other halls in the area and the washing machines (which you have to pay for) are usually always in use considering that there are only three (invest in a drying rack as there are three dryers that you have to pay for as well). Staff are nice and friendly and help with most problems. Rooms are relatively sound proof but doors are really loud especially if you choose a room by the lift (not recommended for light sleepers). All in all good quality halls.

It's a nice new building but expensive for what you actually get. The common room is pretty empty (just a tv and a few sofas) so people tended to gather in flats rather than in there. Unfortunately for me it was usually the flat I shared with 5 other students who thought the sole purpose of uni was to party every night. I tried reasoning with them but they didn't want to know, so I went to the building manager, who also didn't want to know. My flatmates never cleaned up after their constant parties so the shared kitchen area was disgusting, I was going to a friend's for dinner every night because I couldn't face the awful smell coming from the mouldy food and piles of bin bags which no one would take outside. Still the building manager didn't care. I asked to move flats and they said I would then have to pay rent for both rooms. I ended up in hospital due to illness caused by stress, then moved home but still had to pay rent til the end of the year.

Chesil is so expensive but I've loved my halls experience! Chesil is mainly full of people that don't want a party (let's be honest) which is good for on placement but at the same time sucks. The reception staff are amazing and are always willing to go the extra mile.. all in all I've been so happy here.

you get charged for everything, EVERYTHING! Limited ventalation and gets really hot in the summer. Need to provide many of your own appliances (kettle, toaster etc.) Although, these halls are in the best location in regards to the university and nightlife with a bus pass being included with your rent.

Pretty modern, well maintained, large enough to meet a variety of people, small enough to ensure flat parties don't have thousands of walk ins. Security also good. Large enough en-suite rooms for most people, and kitchens of a good size. Does get excruciatingly hot inside, but this could be of benefit in the winter?

Really nice halls, one of the best Bournemouth has to offer. Great kitchen area and nice rooms, Very quiet compared to other Bournemouth University halls and not as social, but in a brilliant location near town and beach, with a bus stop outside that takes you straight to the university campus.
