Not a bad location only 20 min walk from uni, the large room was spacey but dull and not worth the amount they charge. No cleaning done only occasional clean of your shower head, and your parcels often go missing as they just get left on the floor next to your mail box where lots of people walk past every day and nothing is done to help once it’s gone.
Really good location, close to the city centre and university and only 25 minute walk to the train station. Although the actual halls are very messy and the weekly clean up isn't actually weekly is more like monthly! Would be handy if we had a Hoover too...
If you're looking for the Ritz you'll have to keep looking. Building work and loud obnoxious men will be in store for you at this little gem. And at the end of your stay they will deduct a small (or large if they take a disliking to your cleaning attempt) fee from you bond, for the most ridiculous things, like a small a stain on a curtain. Even though you meticulously noted everything down on your inventory, and gave it to them. Yes they have the 'proof' now and not you. It was a great social experience don't shy away from that. But with botched security coming just to say they have been , and someone times occasional trespasser. It makes you think why bother putting the gates up. Not to mention the sick that was left in the down stairs lobby of Pullman house for four days, after me ringing up to tell them on numerous occasions. Biohazard are not taken seriously. I bet there is a blood like stain near floor 2. Yet the location into town is ideal and it makes up lazy maintenance men.
It's a very good value for money, as you get bike security, normal security, and a pretty good en-suite bedroom. It's right next to the city centre, perfect for nights out as you don't have far to walk to the clubs. The cleaners are supposed to come clean the corridors and lift every 2 weeks, but we only had them come in once a term. There are no social rooms for the whole of the building/complex apart from the grass outside, but it is nice in summer when everyone hangs outside in the sun. There is no wifi currently, but the internet there is pretty good, but sometimes randomly goes down right in the middle of essay writing. But I would say they are the best halls for YSJ.
Excellent location as it's pretty much in town with a 20min walk to uni. Quite expensive for what you get though. No common room, social space smallish with just a kitchen. cleaning is done by yourself however we did have people in to clean the showers occasionally.
Generally good- for the most part, common areas are kept clean and tidy, but often management could be a little slow to clear up reported incidents. Security could do more to keep outsiders from the premises- including nightclub reps and (in two cases I saw) bailiffs/ debt collectors targeting students. Social experience is good, and generally the Facebook page dedicated to the accommodation ensured that anyone who fancied a flat party knew where to go. Handy location, only around 10-12 minutes away from the Uni (if you figure out the shortcuts!) Outside of the flats there is no social space- many modern student accommodation these days provides a social space which may include, for example, a pool table and/or Table Tennis. Admittedly this is not a vital factor in selecting accommodation, but the lack of social space combined with security's apparent distain for the aforementioned flat parties does make for some slight tension. Overall, however, would recommend. CR
really good for socialising, rooms are great and feel cosy, kitchen and communal area are just right.. perfect location from town and uni! the only bad things I can say about it are that there's barely any room in the freezer for 5 people and there's no wifi!
Whilst Grays Wharf is in a great location for both town and the university I feel it is over priced for what you get. Plus I was promised onsite security and RA's which are meant to listen to our issues but wasn't informed about either, plus on some occasions it was the RA's themselves causing the issues.
Put in a twin studio and my nightmare roommate got moved out so had a big room, kitchen and bathroom to myself which was cool - and cheaper than a room with shared kitchen in a normal flat. The area isn't nice though, a lot of stories throughout the year of girls walking home alone and being chased/men in masks hanging around near both entrances to Percy's Lane/Grays Wharf. THOUGH I walk home alone from work about midnight and it's always been quiet. Only 8 washing machines and 7 tumble dryers for the whole site, if they're all working properly. Close to big supermarkets and 13 minute walk from YSJ though. Very close to town, not too noisy and security are good at sorting out noise complaints past 11pm. Facilities are also good for coming and changing light bulbs, generally modern, clean flats. Would recommend living here, just keep your wits about you or travel in groups.
