Been here for two years now, it’s been a lovely experience here at Caledonia Mills. All the staff is helpful whenever needed, flats are great if you grab some mates along, but also fine if you’re flying solo. Overall a nice place to stay while at uni, close to a Tesco Extra for your shopping, while Staffordshire University is a 10 min walk.

The building when we moved in was in a less than desirable state. Many things not working or unclean. But over the course of the year so far the staff have turned a lot of it around. The only major issue seems to be Hello Student's bureaucracy which frequently delays even minor repair tasks. I was without a shower for two months, only for the repair people hired to ignore my problem and staff at the building did it themselves anyway. I have recieved absolutely no compensation for this still, and I chalk it up exclusively to the parent company, Hello Student. I don't want to entirely be negative though, the staff really are holding the building together, living here is made pleasant exclusively because of them.

Close to shops and takeaways, and train station, literally centre of stoke on Trent, 10 minutes away from university If your thinking about this place I recommend seeing it before booking it Improvement need/my issues; the flooring they won't change it, it's bad and you can hear people walking upstairs, and issues take a while to be resolved.

The upper management for this place is lacking. Staff are as helpful as they can be but there's only so much they can do. Not great for a 51 week contract as it feels like a waste of money. Could easily be improved but so far it hasn't been and I regret choosing this accomodation. The immediate surrounding area isn't fantastic but neither is most of Stoke.

The building have recently had a new management team who have worked tirelessly to improve the experience at Caledonia. There has been an uptake in social activities, engagements, helping the local community and more. Maintenance issues are now taken more seriously and are resolved as soon as possible. It’s about a 15-25 minute walk from the Staffs campus, depending on where you’re going, and the I bus stop to go to Keele is about a 5-10 minute walk away. The wifi is operated by an external company but when I’ve had issues, I’ve sent details and the issue has been resolved within a matter of hours. There isn’t as much communal space as other accommodations, but the team are working on improving this. It’s nice to live somewhere where the team care about you and your experience - Jade

Josie J: I’ve been here since September and it’s actually really nice. I have 2 other flatmates and it’s just quite chill. The staff are always really lovely and try their best to put on things for the people living here. I have a canal view and get to watch the canal boats go past which I enjoy. It’s next to Hanley park and is a nice enclosed space so feels safe. The only downfall is circuit laundry, but that’s most places so not to bad.

Caledonia Mill is probably one of the best student accommodations in Stoke. It has very cozy and comfortable living areas that make you feel at home. The staff are wonderful and always at hand whenever you have a question about the accommodation. It is just down the road from Staffordshire university so it’s easy to get back and forth between lectures and you barely notice the neighbours. Great place to go if you’re looking for a cozy quiet place!!!
