No common space apart from the kitchen, where there is just one dining table with 6 chairs. Flats kinda depressing, no chances for interaction. Reminds of 2-star motel. However, rooms are comfy and nicely furnished. Bathrooms are tiny. Location is great though! 10 min walk from uni, near to Lidl, pubs and food stores.
Common room, laundry etc are all in another building around the corner. No room to be social within your ridiculously cramped and poorly equipped kitchen. The worst Wifi I've ever dealt with, (prior to writing this review I spent an hour with no working internet at all), and my room's Ethernet port was broken when I arrived. Been here two weeks now and had two fire alarms go off at 5am on a Monday morning. With regards to laundry, at any given time, at least two of the eight washing machines/dryers will be out of order. Having spoken to people in other halls I seem to be the only person with complaints about my accommodation, which leads me to firmly believe that I am in the worst accommodation Sheffield Hallam has to offer. For £2 extra a week you can get an en-suite in the much nicer Trigon which is just two minutes down the road. I wholeheartedly recommenced you do that. Still, at least the staff are nice, and being on top of a Sainsburys is pretty handy I guess.
The bedrooms are a decent size and come with lots of storage but the kitchen is so small it was difficult for all of my flat to be in there at once. The washing machines and common room are in a complete different building meaning you have to walk on the street with your laundry. In regards to your deposit they take large amounts for no reason for example I got a 100£ Charge for my mattress which was already stained and they don't feel guilty about taking such an amount off a student. Additionally the security were the nicest but they always came to tell you off for noise.
There is a lack of social spaces, and because the flats are so small (we had 3 people in one flat) it is difficult to meet new people. But the location is great if you spend a lot of time at city campus and in town.
Common room in a completely different building. For our flat because of where it was (tucked away in a corner) social experience was almost non existent. Again all of my flat had run ins with management at some point to although the issue not being our own fault.
