Tried to report a racist remark that came from ‘safeguarding’ staff. They ignored my complaint. Here’s a thought, maybe have less ignorant, uneducated staff and more staff from diverse backgrounds who aren’t racist and unapologetic about it.
racist staff, can't report the racism because they're all friends who have each other's backs. they will make you think it's your fault for reporting, they're unqualified and ignorant. All about that quick buck with them, ridiculous.
St John's is very expensive and they raise the rent each year. The wifi is not reliable, there is no cleaning services and when disputes arise within your flat about stolen food or people making the kitchen dirty, residential life will not solve any problems. Your parcels do not reach there first (they get sent to a resource centre before being sent to you) so you will never get next day delivery even if you paid for it. There is not really any social space apart from 2 rooms where you can do your work. Also a lot of sexual assaults happen in these halls which the university does not do anything about.
If you're a person of colour, do not apply to live in halls. The staff are ludicrously inexperienced in handling complaints professionally. Shocked at how low the standards are. The complaints on here are accurate and consistent.
