Lived here in my second year of uni before it was taken over by new management. Not a bad accommodation for anyone on a budget but when I compare it to the other accommodations I've stayed in, I wouldn't come back. Management could be rude at times, refusing to take parcels etc. I've heard the new management aren't great either. We were in a flat of 8, it was way too small for all of us and the furniture was cheap and basic. They showed us a more spacious flat and told us that the one we would be getting would be exactly like it, they lied. The rooms themselves were again fine if you aren't fussy, but could do with some modernisation. Unfortunately our flat looked onto a building site, the constant noise and shaking of the building at 7am when work was taking place really wasn't pleasant. I think this building has stopped now though. The location isn't bad for the Quayside, but in a slightly rougher area of Newcastle. The flats opposite constantly had police at them.
Location is perfect as it is very close to both unis. The staff are beyond exceptional, especially Colleen and Rachael on front desk. Great social space with a pool table and a cinema room with us open all the time. Overall, it’s a great place to live.
Overall, accommodation is nice and location is good for quayside and Northumbria university. However, lack of structure within the accommodation means residents can ruin experiences for other residents. No solutions for solving the constant smoking of illegal substances in the courtyard, and the flats are very very noisy both day and night.
