When we arrived our flat did not get cleaned from last years, we were giving one bottle of cheap wine as a apology between 4 of us. However we Was lucky to be in a block in a courtyard so away from the main road. With living with 3 other people it’s hard to socialise if you don’t get on with your flat mates. Hardly any flats in my block talk to one and other. Rooms are nice and quite cute but need some TLC. Many things were broken and needed to be replaced such as the showers and heaters in rooms but the reception were very responsive and got them sorted out straight away without giving us a fee. Okay place to live, quite a quiet hall but if you want to socialise more I would definitely recommend going to another hall in which you live with more people.
Victoria halls is in the perfect location, however there are only 4 students per flat. The experience that i have had here is not an enjoyable one, do not go to Victoria halls if you want to be surrounded by new friends as it is a very quite halls. After 3 months of being here i hardly know my flatmates apart from the chat we have to make sure we all do a turn in the bins. It is a dark and claustrophobic place which id recommend to no one.
Perfect location as it is so close to the university and only a 10 minute walk to the Arndale Centre. Don't even get me started on the hall management, what even is their idea of hall management.. whenever you collect parcels or mail you will receive attitude off a member of staff. Broken stools, broken extractor fan, broken cupboards, broken freezer and a broken TV that are still broken after 10 weeks, no matter how much you complain, nothing will get fixed. Cleaning? We have to do it ourselves, never once have I seen a cleaner cleaning in our blocks. There is no social spaces or a common room in Victoria Hall so being social beyond your flat is not possible. If you are lucky enough to have decent house mates then you will be ok. The Internet is absolutely shocking, dial-up would be better. It keeps turning off randomly and it takes a while to load things especially videos. Most of the things mentioned on the website are false. There is no sky TV and there is no 24hr security.
I was attacked at Victoria hall, cctv did not work was broken , called the on duty security and they did not turn up. The block I was in was the furthest away and not very safe. My flat are continually used drugs and left them round the flat, didn't clean up after himself, smashed up the doors and management did nothing even though 3 out of the 4 flatmates complained . The halls were not as social as Cambridge and I normally went over there for pre's . You do the cleaning yourself . Bins are far away. And also went I was there it was super noisy in the morning ! Positive of the halls was the ensuite, and I had a double bed. Individual rooms are much nicer than Cambridge and also the living room is quite nice . Unfortunately one of our flatmatespoilt this and the main issue was management / reception not doing anything!
Value for money, most things broke and needed replacing throughout the year. Location is brilliant as a short walk from most places. Hall management, okay in some aspects, but most of the time unhelpful and make you feel like they are just trying to get your money and has false advertisement on their website. Cleaning, you have to do it all, communal space is not the one in your flat that gets cleaned. Social experience is okay, but the blocks aren't very social with one another....
