staff are hardly ever there; even though they are supposed to be there at least 8.00-16.00 on weekdays, but they are not which makes it very difficult to get parcels once they have been delivered if you are not in at midday. When I arrived I was told there would be freshers events in a couple weeks then never told anything more about them. I don't know the other students in my flat as we never bump into each other, and are all at different unis. I did book my room when it was at a discount and compared to other halls it is great value, especially considering the location and that it has recently been refurbished.
This is for flatt Road not Harris, the search couldn't find it My accommodation was a shared house on flatt Road . It had 2 bathrooms. One upstairs and one downstairs. I lived with 4 other girls. There was no social room and living area of the house was converted to a bedroom so we often had the social events in someone's room but it wasn't ideal. Being in a house with all girls we did have a lot of falling outs but we were allowed to move if it wasn't working out or if we didn't feel like we belonged there. Thecommunal areas of the house were cleaned every day except weekends and twice a week our rooms were cleaned. Our laundry was done for us once a week. Flatt Road was a row of houses away from the main building of the University but only a short walk this meant it was away from the noise of the social bar on a Wednesday night and was a quite area to live in. However some of the houses did like to hang out together and we had camp fire nights and it was a very family like feeling
Very nice area. But Building infested with vermin. No night staff (staff are present from 9-4 on weekdays, during holiday there are NO staff present for duration of holiday), poor security, no cctv except on the ground floor. Site manager and handyman both smoke like chimneys. Site manager lied to my face several times because he couldn't be bothered to do something I'd requested. Very overpriced accommodation, could be excused with "Oh but it's Central London", if anything worked that is. Lifts are always breaking down and have no lights in them. Kitchen appliances are broken in most flats according to what I can tell. Mine had a broken oven and a broken dishwasher, and the heater in my room would automatically turn itself off every 10 minutes. Social events for students are few and far between, and are on the whole pretty pathetic and patronising. The pipes need to be looked at. The water that comes from the taps is disgusting. Bottled water is a must if living here.
