Read Platt Hall Reviews
Staff will come into your room alot especially early in the afternoon, it's annoying if you wake up late. There's a fire alarm every friday that nearly gives me a heart attack. apart from that fire alarms go off alot for hours at a time, even at 2am sometimes. forcing people to stay outside. Wifi is bad. Location is perfect, theres so many things around and it's really close to Colindale station. The walk to MDX is tiring because you have to walk up a hill. Can be loud sometimes. But I think Platt is the best halls in MDX. Rooms are big compared to unite and is much closer.
I've had staff barge into my room THREE TIMES, unlocking my door and everything, either to get me out of the room during the fire alarm simulation, fix the door knob or check if i have any guests (at 11 at night)... indeed i should have put the chain on the door BUT there is no way they should act this way, it's breaking the rules of privacy. ALSO the internet is DEAD and there's like a curfew after 00 when they SLOW DOWN the internet to the point that you need to be on 4G on your phone.... I can't wait to get out of here
The wifi is literally the worst in the world. They should get wifi routers for each flat instead of using a large service for everyone that doesn't work. Even in the laundry room when you are doing laundry after purchasing the service on your app it will go out. It's s***
-Nice, big kitchen with actual table. -Proper flats so you share with 5 other people. -No common rooms with TV etc, only in other hall on the same site, only open evenings. -Windows are terrible - draughty and not good at stopping noise. Décor is ok but would be better with laminate flooring. Curtains let light through. -Not very sound-proof. -Laundrette is expensive and there's often not a machine working. - Good location - round the corner from the tube station (Northern Line), enough shops around the area. Around 20 minutes walk to the university. If you're not too bothered about being next to the university or common rooms with TVs, Platt Halls are the best halls Middlesex offers, despite the negatives.
