I stayed in Goldsmiths house from 2019-2020,it had been such a wonderful experience. I heard alot about horrible accomodations and flats, but this place wasn't. I came from a very socially connected family and country to study my master in the UK,and I was expecting myself to struggle with being lonely and not having the real sense of family, but it doesn't happen. Can you imagine that I really started to miss my family back home when I moved out of Goldmiths?!. This place has everything that you need make out the best of your studies for many reasons: Firstly,it is always clean, all the common areas are sparklingly clean all the day because of the dedicates staff who are always there and they clean on a daily basis. The only thing you need to take care of is your room. Secondly, The availability of the quite study room helped me alot while searching for a place to focus and not sleep ( I'm a library person,I am not the kind of people who have the strong will for studying on their room,I
Cant imagine why there are negative reviews. This is a small female only accommodation. Lovely atmosphere, very clean with on site cleaners. Construction noise is minimal and building has double glazing. it has a wonderful rose garden that residents can use. A TV room and a study room for the 80 residents. Very friendly residents and staff. A brilliant experience to live there.
Regrettably does not compare with even the most pestilential of student halls. Black mould growing on bathroom surfaces Some public areas only cleaned once a week e.g. bathrooms No gym One, tiny badly fitted study room for the whole building Miniature rooms with window limiters preventing air circulation. Dangerously hot in summer. Mice in kitchen - always False fire alarm activations at all hours of the night forcing evacuations Resident doors faulty and slam loudly Noise, air pollution and room vibration from longterm HS2 construction work make is very hard to study, hear the TV, make phone calls and talk to room mates. Will continue until at least 2026. Some residents have to go to overseas homes to study for finals and complete dissertations because the disruptions are intolerable Informal settlement of migrants growing around the corner to the halls. Many students have been mugged, intimidated and assaulted metres from the halls. The epitome of hell. Avoid.
