I stayed in block b of filbert village and I can confidently say I will never stay there again. The maintenance people were absolutely useless and did not help us. The security was rubbish as well as they did not deal with any noise complaints that we logged through out the whole year. The rooms are nice, however, the bathrooms are pretty grotty and not the nicest, also If your above 6 foot tall good luck with using the shower. Our kitchen was tiny and also disgusting as well as the wood was burnt next to oven from last year and was not replaced. There was plaster and wall paper coming off of the wall. The oven did not work properly nor did the kettle after a while. The vacuum cleaner smelt of vomit and once we complained we were told it was our issue even though they provide the vacuums and it was the first time our flat had used to vacuum which meant it must have been an issue before use. The iron was inoperable and left black marks on your clothes. However, my flat mates were great!

Lived here for my first year worst decision I’ve ever made. Washing machines hardly ever working and over priced. Wi-Fi cuts out, powers always turns off. Racist owners only caring about their money. Selfish.

IT WAS GOOD UNTIL IT WASN'T. Currently my flat is infested with cockroaches and after multiple complains pest control was only called once my flatmate found her one in her room with picture proof. They basically tried to blame it on us and said that us being messy (not even that messy) is ehy there is an infestation. They came and stuck down sticky mats and that is all. He came a week later and took them up with a boat load of cockroaches and a mother cockroach and put down more glue instead of fumigating. This is when I was in the kitchen making toast and one came and walked across the cooker and counter tops. Staff here is lovely but they don't do much to help. I can't use my kitchen and have been eating out all 2 weeks which as a student is a massive cash loss. I asked them what I'm supposed to do as I can't use my kitchen and was scared they would get into my bedroom I was told to buy Raid and that's it. Useless and wouldn't recommend living here. Have been other infestation there.

There are actual cockroaches. And my flats not just the only one who's had them. We've got a meeting next week - don't know how the housekeeping guy is gonna convince them to germy critter away but wish us luck.

Booked filbert as it was a cheap en suite however this was the biggest mistake I’ve when it comes to university. It is a relatively long walk to the university which is fine, however was made worse by the wasteland you have to cross where there is always shards of glass and when it icy you can barely walk there Flat mates were absolutely terrible doing drugs and staying up repeatedly until 7am sometimes with loud music on (although unite did always respond to noise complaints quickly) they would just put the music back on Kitchen was big although it constantly stank due to the other flat mates refusal to clean and got so bad even the cleaners refused to clean it so I was rarely able to actually use it. Room size good and bed was quite comfy, bathroom was okay although there is a shower curtain not a door which I hated. Had several power cuts Block C always smelt of sewage Wouldn’t recommend to anyone, save and spend the extra money on better accommodations

Overall my experience here has been horrible. If my situation was sorted quickly and efficiently I might have enjoyed this place. Washing is seriously pricely, staff are friendly and the room is actually nice. However, I’ve had several issues since moving in here and not a single member of staff has been helpful. Had a horrible experience with flatmates and the general atmosphere is terrible. As a first year, definitely wouldn’t recommend coming here

Has a bad rep but actually isn't that bad. Its one of the furthest away from DMU but you can still get to campus in under ten minutes if you're quick. Ive been in a number of the halls closer to uni and they're usually smaller and more cramped. And obviously they cost more too. You get quite a lot of room for what you pay. Most of the staff are pretty nice and had no problems with them. May seem a little rough but anyone's fine so long as you don't go looking for trouble obviously. Walls are paper f****** thin, but to be expected I guess. Bathrooms decent although the showers suck. Decent furnishings in the room & kitchen but is dependent on the flat you get, some are clearly more 'recent' than others and so in nicer shape. Internet is decent and rarely down for me but others have had issues, especially with the wifi. Wired I get around 5.8mbps download. All in all I reckon it beats some of the other similarly priced halls, so long as you can hack a walk in the morning.

Way too far from uni compared to other halls which can make it unsafe at night. Very basic to say how expensive it is.

It is a pretty cheap hall compared to the others at DMU so you can tell that by the people that end up here. I came via clearing and it was the only one that was available. The people this year have lacked respect not caring about destroying the fairly nice halls and treating the staff like s***. The hall is good, the people really arent

i enjoyed living at filbert village, although it's probably the furthest from dmu, it's really not that far once you've walked in a couple of times. They hold lots of socials, such as BBQs and all of the staff are friendly!
