The showers don't work, the kitchens aren't suitably equipped, the food is substandard, the management seems to be just there for show, nothing is properly signposted or explained and to top it all off the only map of the place provided was out of date. Incredibly low quality. Not satisfied in the slightest.
A great social atmosphere. Admittedly, it's not as grand or extravagant as other halls, but it's excellent for the money paid. Plus, being in the centre of Cottingham is fantastic, allowing for quick trips to shops and/or takeaways.
The facilities aren't that good, and the kitchens don't have enough space or appliances. The bathrooms aren't that great either, with the plugs blocking as soon as the water starts running. There are no communal areas in our wing, and the Ines in the other wing are quite large, a space in each corridor with seating would be idea rather than having to invade someone else's room or sit in the corridor! The food, although edible, was not the best considering it is only a small number being catered for. Half the students no longer go to their prepaid meal due to the quality of the food. However, being quite a small hall, everyone knows everyone else and it is really friendly. It is also really close to the shops which is ideal. More communal areas and better facilities are needed, but I have enjoyed my time here, due to the friendly atmosphere and the community feeling.
food is nothing to write home about, although you're technically only paying £2 a day for it so what do you expect. The "cleaning" consists of literally running a mop around the communal bathrooms which are shared between around twenty people and would benefit from being ripped out. the common rooms are all in old wing which is inconvenient for people living in new wing. Despite this everyone is so kind and easy to get on with, the social aspect is the best you could expect for coming to uni. I don't think I'd want to go to a different halls given the choice to redo this past year as I've loved going to accommodation that is so much less luxurious than my home, it really makes you appreciate home cooking and your home comforts when you go back!
Needler hall is a badly maintained student hall, the kitchens are poor quality with broken appliances. The cleaning is minimal and there is lots of repairs and a huge revamp needed. The bathrooms are gross with alot of people sharing them and the shower is disgusting. The food is of a poor standard and is very questionable. However the social experience is great! There is no separated flats each corridor connects which is great for meeting people and your friend group expands massively which is great for nights out and just when you want to chat. Everyone is really close and just like a family.
