The Mill House Biography
The Mill House is conveniently located right next to transport links which make rolling out of bed and getting to uni very easy! Edinburgh Napier University and the University of Edinburgh are both within a sixteen-minute cycle whilst Heriot-Watt University, SRUC and Queen Margaret University are within a forty-seven-minute cycle away. There are plenty of amenities right on your doorstep and for sports lovers, the famous Murrayfield stadium is just a few streets away.
The Mill House has fantastic social spaces that include a common room with a TV, pool table and table football, communal kitchen, an onsite gym, fitness studio, outdoor space, garden and even study rooms. There are handy amenities too such as an onsite secure bike storage, a vending machine, an on-site team, on-site maintenance and free car parking. You can also benefit from having WiFi, CCTV, all-inclusive bills and contents insurance.
There are plenty of different rooms to choose from so you’ll be sure to find one that suits your preferences. The ensuite rooms are in apartments where you have use of a shared kitchen/living space kitted out with a flat-screen TV. The rooms come fully furnished with a double bed, plenty of storage and a study area. Overall, I like this accommodation. I think it has good social spaces to spend time with friends. Also, really love the location of it, as it is located not that far from the city centre, near the campus there are two stores. Moreover, it is really convenient to go anywhere, as it has bus stops in a few minutes walking distance and a tram station in a 10 minutes walking distance.

What an accommodation!! Would 100% recommend. I have lived here for two years and have no complaints. The staff are amazing, there are events and giveaways held weekly, great value for money, good-sized rooms, and modern shared kitchens. In addition, the location is incredible, Sainsburys, Aldi, McDonalds, and the gymgroup are just down the road! Bus stop 50 metres away. Overall 5 stars. I have really enjoyed my stay.

The whole team at The Mill House are very friendly, and welcoming. They are also very quick and attentive when it come to any maintenance problems. The area is perfect for a student accommodation with buses right outside the door and many places for shopping and socialising nearby. The building overall is very well taken care of and secure. The team put in their best effort when putting on events and helping the students here to socialise with each other. I have been staying here for a month. So far I have nothing bad to say about the accommodation. The staff is very nice and helpful and the building is well maintained. There are three bus stops close to the accommodation and a lot of different buses you can take depending on where you study. I currently live in a studio and I find it super comfortable and spacious. I would have liked for the corridors and elevators to be cleaner but I understand it's a hard task with a place full of students who move in and out of the building a lot. The room I had was very nice except for a little mold on the bathroom walls and some stains on the walls left by the previous tenant. Overall, the Mill House is a great place and deserves it's reputation.

The housing experience in the Mill House has been so great. Prior to move in date, management and staff were helpful and responsive to our queries through email. They were more than willing to make the relocation into their properties as seamless as possible. Once moved in, the service has been 5-stars. The Quik app sends notifications of mail, fixes and maintenance as well as events. The social life in the mill house is incredible. I really love and enjoy living here!

Was originally concerned by price, but after moving in that has been put to rest. Whilst the flat doesn't come with items like toasters or floor brushes, the common room area such as the pool table are a nice addition. Good transport links for Heriot-Watt & Sighthill, less ideal for Merchiston & Craiglockhart campuses

I have loved every second living here since September all the staff running the building are wonderful respectful and listen to every problem or concern I’ve had during my stay the location is brilliant 15 mins away by bus to the city centre making my commute to work nice and easy really looking forward to my return in September

location is the perfect place for all universities, being exceptionally close to a bus stop allowing for travel times between their and heriot-watt in less than 30 minutes. the value is affordable and for it, you get great and clean accommodation with a service that provides as many opportunities as possible to meet people

I have loved my time at The Mill House this year. The management team are always friendly and helpful. Social spaces including the study room, gym, and social room downstairs are all cared for very well and all became very useful throughout the year. Also since I was situation in flat 78 on the extension part of the building we have very little disturbance from any other flats. My only slight complaint is the price of the accommodation, especially since this is rising again for next year. Everything about this accommodation is perfect including its location, but despite that have still struggled to find reason enough to pay the monthly price to stay here again next year. But overall a great year at The Mill House, I can’t thank them enough!

Been living here for almost a year. This place is just okay, nothing to brag about tbh. The cost of a room is fairly reasonable, considering we live in a capital city. The general layout for an ensuit is spacially used well. The bathroom is small, resulting in a bigger bedroom. Use of desk space and storage is very good! Wardobe and storage under bed is decent. Natural lighting is good too as the window is large, creating a bright and airy space. Hygiene of the room was fine when I moved in, although had to clean the bathroom as there was mold from the previous tenant. You'll have to fork out for your own kitchen appliances like a hoover and kettle, as these are not provided. The money we spend is put on social events that no one cares about. We all think that half of the social space should be a mail room with lockers. All the mail is put on a table outside reception and not taken in when the staff go home, resulting in stolen mail. Hms for stds - get yee priorites straight :)

As I am sure you can appreciate we do have a lot of residents, with differing requirements and taste when it comes to where they choose to live. We do receive a lot of positive feedback about the events and free stuff we offer- over 70 people attended our welcome event and we try to ensure that we offer a variety of events to cater to a very diverse community. I understand the frustration of parcels, however whilst we try to accommodate and minimise issues, parcels is the responsibility of the receipitant. We do take parcels in when we leave however we are conscious that some deliveries do come after we leave which is the courier who chooses to leave them unattended or some students ask us to leave them there at their own risk so they can collect after we have closed. I am more than happy to review how parcels are held and come up with alternative ways of storeage to minimise theft or damage however the volumn of post we receive which in some cases may not be collected for some time can leave our storage facility quite full. The environment is very friendly. The location is perfect, 10 minutes from old town with a bus. 10 minutes from my university. Inside gym. There is a medical centre just 5-7 minutes away from the accommodation. The stuff is really friendly and keep everything running smoothly.

This is the first year I study abroad and I truly feel like home away from home staying at the Mill House. My room is clean, the view is great, groceries shopping is handy. One thing to highlight is the staff, they are so welcoming and friendly. Whenever I have difficulties or problems they just always reach out to help and make sure I'm having a comfortable stay. Great accommodation room spacious I could make it a cosy wee pad to complete my studies. I also had the gym on the same floes so gave me a motivation to go. Really nice rooms in a really nice location - bus travel to other parts of Edinburgh easy with a bus stop right outside the accommodation. Supermarkets are a 2 minute walk away so reslly accessible. Staff are lovely and ready to help with any issues. Rooms are spacious with plenty of storage space. With plenty of events it was really easy to meet and make friends with others in the building and flatmates. Highly recommend!

Only acceptable as a plan B I’ve been living here for almost 5 months now and I don’t really like this place. Here are the reasons: - The draining system in the shower is THE WORST I’ve seen in my life. The water just never easily goes down! In the best case, you have to turn off the water every 30 seconds and wait for the water to go down and then repeat this until you are done with showering. In the worst case, even Mr Muscle won’t work! Even the maintenance person couldn’t fix it and I believe it’s because of the small pipes they’ve use for the building. For your information, whoever I spoke to in the building had this problem! So if you think you can take a relaxing shower after a day of studying, it’s actually going to go on your nerve badly! - The accommodation is on Gorgie Rd. which is a main road and there’s a lot of noise coming from the street. Usually there’s a lot of ambulances, police cars, etc. passing and the noise they make is too annoying (and imagine this happening
Thank you for your feedback, although we are obviously disappointed it is not a bit more positive, we would like the opportunity to work on your concerns as some of the concerns you have raised are likely issues we can rectify. Can you please report the drainage issue to us directly via the Mill House email or come to reception to speak with a member of the team so we can investigate and try and fix the problem. It is not uncommon for there to be times where the drainage needs worked on in any property, which can be the result of a variety of reasons. Without being able to investigate we are unable to come up with a suitable solution. We are situated on a main road, which some of our rooms do face out onto, but we also have rooms available facing onto our courtyard or off the main road. Being on a main road does come with challenges such as it can be a bit noisier due to traffic- Emergency service vehicles do use this road as a route, but we cannot determine the volumn which will be compliant with noise control measures determined by local councils to ensure they access their emergency situation in a timely fashion. There are methods that can help reduce any possible noise. We do have benefits to this location however, such as excellent transport links to all the education providers and the city centre. We are also very close to quieter areas such as Saughton park and the Water of Leith. I hope we have been able to offer positive experiences for your time here, but we are happy to discuss further to help support the remainder of your tenancy with us. Our Housekeeper does take pride in their job and keeps all of the communal spaces clean and tidy. Our location is a great asset – on the same straight road as Heriot Watt University, Napier University Sighthill Campus, Edinburgh College and in the other direction Edinburgh University; with so many buses right outside the building there’s nowhere in Edinburgh one cannot get to from The Mill House. When I moved in here, I actually didn't know much about the place. But when my girlfriend and I started living here, I was so happy with my decision. I honestly love how friendly the staff is, and I really enjoy living here, and I've made amazing friends as well. All in all, 10/10 would recommend a friend!

The place is conveniently located — there’s an Asian supermarket right next door, an Aldi and a Sainsbury’s a short walk away, and a McDonald’s and Kaspas for days when you aren’t too keen to cook! There are two gyms nearby, and you’re close to Saughton Park if you fancy a walk or some fresh air.

The millhouse is in a great location , very clean building , rooms are spacious and comfortable as well as the kitchen/ living area. the staff are amazing, super helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend the millhouse.

The staff are super friendly and always happy to help no matter what the issue (personally I had a flat mate issue and they helped me move without any hassle). With Covid19 hitting everyone it's nice to know there is always a friendly face during office hours who you can speak to. Rooms have the perfect amount of storage space, under the bed and in shelving space. The Kitchen is a great space to have a cuppa and chat with your flatmates or to do your work if you don't want to be stuck in your room. The accommodation has a gym, social space and study area. While I have personally not been able to make use of these spaces due to the current circumstances it is still nice to know they are there had this not been the case. We live right on a bus route so easy to get into town I think it takes about 20mins, Aldi is a 5 min stroll down the road and if you are an MGA student like myself the Balgreen Campus is only a 5 Min walk away, perfect if you're running late!

We do try our very best to make all our residents feel at home within The Mill house and help as best we can in any given situation. Sometimes it is not always possible, but where there is a will theres a way. Please be rest assured that the social spaces and gym are patiently waiting to be re-opened again once restrictions allow - hopefully by the end of April, fingers crossed. Good although we don’t have use of all areas

In normal circumstances all social areas of the building would be open 24/7, however in order to keep everyone safe during this current pandemic we have kept these closed as per Scottish Government advice. The accommodation is very nice and spacious, however I do not believe it is worth the amount of rent per month. I think that we should have had a reduced rent due to the fact that we are not permitted to use any social spaces. Location is good for Napier Campus with many good bus routes.

Love this accommodation, comfy beds and decent size rooms and social spaces in the flats. Haven’t had the opportunity to spend time in the social spaces indoors due to covid restrictions but outdoor spaces are lovely

The room looks pretty great, the only problem I found is that the kitchen is not very good equipped. There is no toaster or kettle, which I think are neccesities.
