Halls are up to date and quite clean, they are layed out well and the staff are usually able to fix any problems that come up. Theres a helpline for all of the accomodations thats open 24hrs a day for you to voice concerns or listen to your problems.
Cleaners only clean the hallways. Right on the seafront, close to town - beautiful area. Good internet, good room sizes. Modern bathrooms (for halls). Lack of sofas - social space comprises of table and chairs. We mainly left the doors open in our bedrooms as rooms were big enough to spend time in. Nice courtyard outside. Social life could have been great due to layout of the flats - the other flats just weren't very socialable.
Caerleon was (in my opinion) the best self catered halls at Aberystwyth. It is literally on the seafront and we had a beautiful bay window overlooking the sea and Constitution hill. The only issue was the walk up the hill to campus which made getting out of bed even harder than usual, however this was off set by being right in town and near to the best bars and restaurants. NB Cleaning got 5 stars by because we didn't have any, but that was reflected in the price!
Expensive, but one of the cheaper options for those needing to live in the City Centre. Rooms are a good size although a little bigger wouldn't harm anyone. The main draw back was the noise. Marketgate is known for its flat parties and all that comes along with student life, which is great for some people but not for all! It is very good for its location and you would be hard pushed to find anything closer to the city for less... The beds are a decent size (if you are lucky enough to get a 3/4 size bed and not a single. Over all I think for a Fresher it is a good place to live, although not if you are not a party animal.
