Student accommodation is always going to be expensive, living in halls is no exception. Cleaning was non existent as we were required to keep our own living spaces clean. The benefits of living in halls was the ease at which the accommodation was set up and managed, the social aspect of being situated at the campus, and all bills being included in the price of the rent.
Great hall, however on reflection would’ve rather been in wallscourt. Basically my flatmates were s*** and only me and another guy ever went out or wanted to do stuff. All that said it was good having a quiet flat so I could still get on with work when I needed to
The student village is in a good location and is a short walk away from the majority of uni buildings and close to the north entrance and local shops. The common areas are a decent size and the walls are thick so it’s not too noisy either.
The flat itself it fantastic! Lots of room and you get an ensuite However, it's very very noisy and the staff don't do anything about noise complaints. I complained about 20 times about loud music and they did nothing! Just said ignore it
Even though it is expensive, you can use as much heating/water/electricity, etc as you want and not pay any extra. Location - so useful for lectures and library! Will miss this next year! Wish there wee more cafes/restaurants, etc open on campus, and more on campus social activities. Hall management-24 hour security, reception staff are always there. Cleaning - other unis have cleaners for flat communal areas, but we don't. They only do the block lifts and entrance areas. Social experience is quite good because you have neighbouring flats, etc. And loads of people live in the student village, but would be nice to have more on campus activities.
