The accommodation is overpriced for a number of reasons. Firstly, the food is bland and the kitchen start are incompetent. Mrs P, the lady that checks our ID cards, shouts at students for no reason and makes dinnertime an unpleasant experience. She is rude and disrespectful as she shouts at people from across the room. Breakfast is painful and the timing is inconvenient. There are too many porters; some are very creepy like the small porter with glasses. One porter was very unnecessary when he told us to clean up after ourselves which we do anyway. The place has a very unpleasant and creepy vibe to it. Only people who live there will know. The place is deceiving; looks great from outside but it awful to live in. The windows barely open so the rooms are not well ventilated and are suffocating. The cleaning staff are very rude and looked at us very unkindly. They talk and gossip so loud that it wakes us up in the morning when we have been studying all night and need to sleep.
I think Crombie/Johnston halls are about as good as it gets when it comes to location. The evening meals aren't that bad, but breakfast is a joke IMO, basically no protein but a whole lot of carbs, and the exact same choices everyday. If they put a little more effort into breakfast it me worth the money. I have a lot of issues with plumbing. Rarely hot water in the showers, and not good pressure. Also heard of flooding in some places. My room had broken doors and shelves, and gets rather cold since the heater doesn't do much. The place needs some renovation but the cleaning staff do a good job. Staff overall are very nice and try to create a pleasant atmosphere. There are social rooms with pool tables and two big TVs with lots of DVD choices, which is nice if you want a place to hang out. Despite these things I think the quality of the rooms, facilities, and food don't make it worth the money.
