Since there are no pre-requisites for taking psychology at uni, you end up with a smorgasbord of different people who have done it at A-levels, IB, etc. or not at all! This means that you start learning everything from scratch! Now if you have done two years of Psychology and Biology at Higher Level in the International Baccalaureate, I can tell you that your first year is basically a revision course with some extra new stuff that you may not have learned! If you haven't ever learned psychology or have no basic knowledge of biology ... be prepared for an avalanche of new information rushing your way! All lecturer's are absolutely lovely and easily approachable, the lectures and seminars are well structured and engaging. In lectures we use anonymous quizzes, we do group work, and watch informative videos, etc. - it's not as boring as one may think! It's a cohesive, well-thought out course with an emphasis on the application of psychology in the real world.
There is nothing more that I could ask for! Psychology Department in University of Bath is very helpful and friendly, the lecturers teach the subject very well and make their lectures more exciting with their approaches to teaching; showing videos, asking though-provoking questions, producing an interactive environment etc.
I had such a brilliant choice of optional modules, including subjects that can't be studied elsewhere such as Neureconomics and Consumer Psychology. The staff were SO friendly, supportive and always there to help when needed. I graduated feeling as though I could go anywhere and do anything.
The course can be challenging but the reputation of Bath and the degree specifically counterbalance any hard courseworks or exams! The content is generally quite interesting and gives you an insight into many aspects of Psychology. Staff are quite responsive and give good feedback if you ask for it.
