Geography with Business, BA Hons

Enjoying the course so far, only at the end of my first year and have faced disruptions due to Covid-19. All the geography modules are based around human aspects of geography which is what I prefer and the majority of the business modules have been interesting. Resources are in abundance in the libraries or online, no real need to buy any books as of yet but it does make it easier, I believe I have spent around £30 on 5-6 second hand books / textbooks which is not bad at all. Strikes have been annoying but hopefully its only a short-term problem that will get sorted out, I have been affected but not as badly as other courses. I am looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd years where I get to choose my modules, the university offers a wide range of areas to study within the Geography with Business course, economic geography is my area of interest.

Geography, BA Hons

The university is fantastic, has fantastic staff and facilities to help you learn. And they really support wellbeing- their staff are so understanding. Ever since I’ve been at this university, I’ve looked after my mental health so much more, and I couldn’t have done that without the support. You’re never alone, the well-being team is amazing. My personal tutor was supportive from day one- when I thought I wasn’t going to stay due to mental health. Thanks to his support, I have a counsellor and a well being plan and I’ve seen massive progress since I started. Student services are on another level. I’ve never been in an institution as supportive as this, despite my sixth form claiming to be understanding. Honestly, I’m so glad I came here- I will hopefully leave with a good education, positive memories and an improved mental health. In terms of the course itself, extremely interesting with very passionate staff. A library, that provides you most of the required course material. So happy!

Very broad first year topics allows you to specialise in topics you enjoy in later years. Good teaching on the whole.
