Great course which is taught well. Lots of great facilities. Great projects that make use of the facilities and give you an idea of what real world engineering projects are like as you work with companies on real projects.
Course has been full on with a mixture of coursework and exams. However it has been a good mix of the maths, physics, engineering and design, creating quite a range of different coursework and assessment types which makes it both interesting and challenging.
Originally studying mechanical engineering and transferred on to the Sports Technology course. The staff are very supportive and take the time to get to know students, this is helped by having a small group to start with. The course content is broad and inspiring, the lectures are happy to make time to help solve problems. Projects come directly from industry so right from the start you gain an understanding of the real world problems that need solving and where a career could take you.
What I love about my experience at Loughborough is that everything is so industry-oriented. Being able to relate everything to real-life jobs and scenarios instead of just learning theory is very useful. Even the projects in this course cover more than just the engineering knowledge. They teach you all the other skills involved in projects such as management, law, financing, manufacturing, etc. They prepare you for your future career very well.
I really enjoyed my time on the course for my first year, However I found that learning via online methods made it quite difficult to retain proper focus during lectures, Hopefully this should not have to be the case though next year. I also sometimes found it difficult to understand certain lecturers' accents, but all of the lecture notes and materials were available for later use online
