Graphic Design at Loughborough is a really practical course whereby lecturers give a-lot of good advice and feedback that we can work on and improve. There are a range of facilities that they provide which gives students the best experience.

By member911288 On 15th July 15The teaching staff are fantastic and supportive especially the career staff. The content is great and teaches you everything you would need to know. With an optional sandwich year you have all sort of opportunities within the industry as they have such strong links with the best designers.

By James W On 22nd October 15I'm usually not one to jump to conclusions but the teaching standard throughout Loughborough is top-notch. There are a few weak links, sure, but they are few and far between. The course content is relevant and challenging, while the staff at the University are more than willing to give you a helping hand should you require it. I can't comment much on 'Job Prospects', what with being a new student, but I am quietly confident that Loughborough has my back.

By member1136670 On 22nd March 19The tutors on my course are really easy to talk to and approach with issues or questions. All tutors are inspiring in all areas but offer further help in their specialities. The art and design building could do with a complete refurb however the facilities are all there (mac labs, photography and film studio, animation lab and print studio). Final year space is really great for working full time in the studio around fellow students.

By member636855 On 1st April 19I can’t deny that the design course leaves you with an impressive set of skills and opportunity. However, the course is outdated and incredibly restrictive. “Design whatever you want” - as long as it fits within a very specific set of criteria of what Loughborough views as ‘Industrial Design’. Furniture design is almost completely banned and don’t even think about using the workshops for your own, personal projects. It is not encouraged and you won’t be able to use the machines you may already be trained on for fear of heath and safety risks. The only way to design is the Loughborough way. It is less about good design and more about designing to hit points on a mark scheme. If you want to attend a free thinking design course that encourages individuality and creative expression... this is not the course for you. I can’t wait to be finished so I can pursue what I think of design and actually work on projects that can inspire me.

By member1338711 On 30th May 19I haven't been in touch with my personal tutor much this could be my fault but I didn't really understand if their role was directly related to my course. I love the content of the course and find workshops/studio sessions in the mac lans particularly enjoyable/useful. Lots of information regarding placements too

By member444062 On 27th November 19Despite not liking my course as much as I thought I would, I still don't regret my decision of Loughborough. The course taught me some things, but ultimately a lot of what I learnt was through the tones of other media opportunities on campus, especially within sport. Most of the lecturers were good, the issue was the lack of communication between them. Having the name Loughborough University on my CV definitely does help with job prospects but I don't think this is a direct correlation from my course. Some modules were tailored to teach you skills for the real world but I think more could have been done. Ultimately, I don't think it was value for money because there is a large amount of additional costs in this course - software, materials, printing, which you need to be aware of.

By member444064 On 27th November 19I come to Loughborough with a strong passion for Graphic Design but lacking in the skills to pursue a proper career in design. I was pushed out of my comfort zone and created things I never thought I was capable of. In my final year I was even picked as one of the lucky few to showcase my work at the D&AD new blood festival in london which opened up so many career prospects for me.
