By member536781 On 27th March 19Love that you can tailor modules to your personal taste. Lecturers really appreciate student feedback. A minority of lecturers deliver their specialism in quite a chaotic manner which can be hard to follow.

Biological Sciences, BSc Hons
By member623235 On 20th July 16The course is very intense at times which significantly helps me for self-motivation and understanding the topics. The teaching quality is also a very high standard and the lecturers are willing to help you if you don't understand something.

By member1223027 On 4th July 16I am really enjoying this course, and would definitely recommend it to prospective students. The first year everyone does the same 5 modules (although biomedical students do 1 module different) to give you a well rounded starting point, and then in the second and third years you pick which modules you want to do, so there is a lot of choice and you can decide to study only what you're most interested in. There is a good mix of labs, lectures, and tutorials to help you really understand the material and also teach you valuable lab skills. The personal tutor system is there to provide support if you need it, and to talk about plans for the future etc. I did have some problems with my personal tutor in first year but once I contacted people to sort it out it was very easy and I found it really helpful. Again, I strongly recommend this course to prospective students, I have found it to be very interesting and I have enjoyed it greatly.

Biological Sciences, BSc Hons
By kbrink010 On 1st July 16I find the biological sciences department overall at Leicester very encouraging and caters to many different needs of students. With over 6 specialisms available students have the opportunity to specialise their degree and pick modules more tailored to that or stick with the more borader biological sciences degree. The labs are large and spacious but not crammed with students, and there are always at least one PhD student per desk to help out. Contact time in first year is around 22 hours with a slight decrease in second and third year due to research projects. In second year a brilliant module called research project is taken which is compulsory and helps the students learn key skills needed to aid them in their dissertation! The field trips are also highly enjoyable and would definitely recommend them if you're considering zoology.

Biological Sciences, BSc Hons
By member45849 On 30th April 15I am a first year student, about to do exams. So far, the course has been amazing! There was the odd lecturer who went a bit fast, but when you go through the notes after they're pretty good :) personally, my personal tutor was useless, I haven't seen her once and she keeps ignoring my emails, but I know other people have had better experiences with theirs! I only gave job prospects a 3 because I honestly have no idea, I'm trying not to think about that yet, but I do know that Leicester has an amazing internship scheme.
