Lack of lectures teachers do not commit
Graphic Arts and Design, BA Hons
If you want to do graphics as a fine-art subject this course is good with excellent facilities. If you want to become a graphic designer & get a job in design or advertising then this course is completely inadequate & will not prepare you for a job the real world. The briefs are ridiculous, very poorly written with no clear application (summed up as 'think of any colour/object/subject, do something with it & write a long essay'). Social Media is not taught despite being essential. The teachers do their own thing, are unavailable, miss appointments & are uninterested in the needs of their students. The facilities are good and so are the tech staff but it can be hard to get time slots. The uni has no regard or respect for this course eg they recently commissioned a new brand logo & did not offer graphics students the chance to come up with their own design or work alongside the design agency. The final product was very poor!

The course is very straight forward and we'll layer out, it just matter of fact of you making an effort. The tutors are good because they can widen your ideas and easy to talk to.
