Loughborough University Reputation
Loughborough University is consistently ranked as a UK Top 10 University by the Complete University Guide 2016-23. It is a single-site campus spread over a vast 440-acre green site among beautiful gardens and open spaces. With campuses in Loughborough and London, the University is home to over 18,760 students and staff from more than 130 different countries. All undergraduate courses offer the option to include a year in industry as part of the degree, giving students the chance to maximise employability skills. Where is Loughborough University Located?
Loughborough University is located in the heart of the UK in the county of Leicestershire. The campus is a fifteen-minute walk from the town centre – there’s also a shuttle bus that runs through campus and into the town centre at regular intervals. The larger cities of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby are nearby, as are tourist attractions the Peak District and Bradgate Park.
Graduate Outcomes
The graduate outcomes for Loughborough show that six months after leaving university, 92% of graduates are in work or further study. (HESA Graduate Outcomes Data Survey 2023 for 2020/21 graduates) The University’s Careers Network is highly regarded by both students and employers, where students rated Loughborough the number one careers service in the 2017 Student Barometer Survey of students at over 200 universities internationally.
Facilities
The University boasts some incredible facilities, including the brand new STEMLab which is part of a £25 million investment into the west side of campus making it one of the UK’s leading centres of excellence for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The University is proud of its reputation for sport, ranked best university in the world for sports-related subjects in 2019. Facilities include:

What is Loughborough like?
Loughborough town is a lively and friendly market town with plenty of things for students to do. It is home to an array of shops and restaurants, relaxed pubs and bars and some great entertainment facilities. Loughborough Students’ Union has it’s very own 4,000 capacity nightclub that has 3 different rooms all playing a variety of music several times a week, so you can have a great night without even leaving campus. Loughborough is also close to tourist attractions like Bradgate Park and Beacon Hill. Average student Living costs at Loughborough compare favourably with other universities in the UK.
Student Life
Consistently praised by students for its unbeatable community spirit, there are endless opportunities to get involved in at Loughborough Students' Union, owned and run entirely by students. There are over 120 clubs and societies to get involved in, ranging from breakdancing, yoga, snowsports, singing, and even climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! In 2018/19, Loughborough Students' Rag raised over £1 million for local and national charities.

Thank you for your question. Student safety is of the utmost importance to us. On campus we provide 24hr security and surveillance with security staff regularly patrolling campus and the halls off campus so that there is always someone to respond and deal with emergencies. Ensuring student safety in halls is also very important to us. Each hall has a team of wardens and sub-wardens to provide pastoral and welfare support for students in halls. Also, included in your cost of accommodation is insurance of your possessions in your room including electrical equipment, clothes and frozen food. There are also steps you can take as a student to increase your safety during your time with us.

If you visit the web page for our MSc in Mechanical Engineering then you will be able to see some of the companies our graduates have gone to including BAE Systems, Airbus and Jaguar Land Rover in mechanical, structural and developmental engineering roles. During your time with us you will have access to our fantastic careers network which will support you in looking for a role for after you graduate and you will also be able to access their support for up to three years after graduating. Thank you for your question. I would say, especially for your first year, living in University accommodation is a good option. Being in a University hall of residence allows you to meet other Loughborough students as soon as you arrive and being on campus is so useful in your first year as you're just getting used to campus and it means that nothing is that far away - and there will always be someone who can direct you back to your hall. Living in halls also allows you to have access to so many social events on your doorstep including well-being activities, summer and winter balls, IMS sport (where you get to represent your hall) and much more! If you put Loughborough as your firm choice and register for accommodation before the end of July we will guarantee you a room in University accommodation for your first year of study. Living on campus is a very popular option with many students returning to halls for their second year of study as it is so convenient being on campus and having everything so close by.

The campus is really one of the big highlights of the university, as a woman I was worried before coming to university that I may feel unsafe walking around campus alone, especially after a night out, however I have not once felt unsafe due to the familiar feeling grounds and knowledge of how many people there are around designated to our safety.

Loughborough town is also pretty safe although we always advise people to take the usual precautions when out and about.

Living in loughborough has been great, it has some lovely scenery and is great if you are into sports. Lots of good social activities in the students union. Only thing is the Spar is quite expensive for a student budget.

The Spar is great for convenience purchases and there are large chain supermarkets within walking distance of the main campus, if you'd like more choice and value.

Love it the services are really good
Thank you, Loughborough University is glad to offer lots of facilities including shops, cafes, eateries, bars, dining halls, hotels, two gyms, and a pharmacy, an optician, a dental practice, a hairdresser, launderettes, a taxi rank, and a large nightclub. :-) Our teaching areas and sports facilities are world class too. There's something for everyone and it's all conveniently located on campus.
Really happy with the facilties, it cna be a bit difficult with calling and walking around as it can get a bit choppy but otherwise its pretty good

It can be challenging to balance being a dediciated sportsperson, with timetables and independent study, with all the things we have going on here, but there are many facilities on offer on campus to help students make friends and enjoy student life to the full. The Holt accommodation at this UK university provides a decent living space for students. While the rooms are adequate and the amenities functional, there's room for improvement in terms of modernization and community engagement. Overall, it serves its purpose as a standard option for student housing, but falls short of being remarkable.

Loughborough uni definitely is a community, and the facilities are amazing. Would definitely consider doing a postgraduate degree here too

Value for money, friendly staff, well equipped, cleaned every 2 weeks, rooms can be kept neat and clean. 20 min walk or direct bus to the door, close to supermarket and town.

The university has good connections for placement

Very good campus with lots of different things to do there with amazing sports facilities

Thank you for your review! Our Loughborough campus is 523 acres so there is always lots going on from volunteering to RAG to sports and societies - so plenty to get involved in! It's great to hear you've enjoyed your time here :)
